Recommend shock absorbers?
Hey all,
I need to replace the shock absorbers on my 94 K Blazer. 4WD, used on the street 99%. The suspension is stock and I am looking for some good street handling. Any recommendations on shocks all around? Rough Country? Gabriel? Edelbrock? Jeff

I'm going with KYB gas-a-just. Got them at Summit for about $28 each.

KYB Gas for me too...Got them with my front-end rebuild kit from Early Classic Enterprises...

Thanks for the recommendations. I went on my lunch hour to some local parts stores. Do any of you know anything about the Monroe Flexis? I hate buying shocks because you don't know what you have until after it is installed! Have you guys actually driven the KYBs yet? I am looking for good street performance as I don't off road much any more.

i paided 10.99 a peice for monroe heavy duty front shocks.... they work great for me...

I use the rancho rsx (same system as monroe reflex) and they work great. Great handling and improved the ride as well.

im a new sway bar fan ..that and new front shocks and it handles incrediably better .... removing the spare tire in the back helps too

Thanks for the feedback. I installed the Monroe Reflex shocks today. They feel good. A more solid ride and there seems to be less body roll. A little expensive though. I paid $45 per from Advanced Auto. I would recommend them if any body is interested.

Just did my 96 with Rancho RS5000. First time using the Ranchos for me and I love them. Got mine from Summit . They were under $40 each.

Somebody said Rancho is made by Monroe. Anybody know if that is true? Since Advanced Auto sells both it would make sense they are from the same manufacturer.

Are the Monroe Reflex or Ranchos adjustable like the KYBs? I'm only interested in smooth ride, no off-road. Does this mean adjustables won't help at all? I have new coil springs(standard) up front but cheap coil assisted shocks. Everytime I hit a small bump in the road I can feel it in my bowels.

No they are not adjustable. The rancho rsx's that I use improved ride quality a great deal on my truck, although it is still no cadillac, but they improved handling as well and I am quite happy with them.

Thanks 350. They say a pick-up will never ride like a car, but I'd like to get as close to it as I can. Thats why i'm going to go back to the factory soft cab mounts. Thought about welding 2nd set of shock mounts at the rear for my airshocks. Standard shock comfy ride with air shock back-up for hauling heavy loads.
