Re: Headers 72 K10

Headman makes some for the 67-72 4x4. The finish was flaking right out of the box on the black ones I ordered. Check the flange that bolts to the head make sure there is no burrs that will keep it from sealing tight. Throw away the gaskets they send with them and get some steel or coper core ones at the local parts house. The headers will run about 160 bucks and the good gaskets will be 35 ish. If your using a stock starter (not a mini) you might want to bolt a aluminum starter shield with it as well. They are like 20 bucks and will keep from melting the inside of your starter. The 4x4 headers sit about 1.5 in away from the starter and tend to get it very hot causing it to go out prematurely.

don't see a listing on the Hedman web page for the 72 K10 other than serious race heads. do you have a part number: otherwise I will give them a call

Re: Headers 72 K10

I have hooker headers on mine, what kind of tranny you have will determine which are best for you. I have a manual tranny and Hooker makes the header that clears the clutch linkage perfectly (i'm going hydro so that won't be a problem for long). I put Hedman on originally and they didn't clear the clutch linkage.
