If you have a bellhousing on the engine now, you can bolt up any common GM 3 or 4 speed car transmission or a T-5 from a Camaro or S-10. You can also use an aftermarket transmission like a TKO or Richmond. If you don't have a bellhousing, you will need to find one from a 55-59 GMC truck. A Pontiac car bellhousing will NOT have the mounts you need.

Raycow thats great. Do you know if the input splines are the same and or have to be lengthened or shortened or is this a direct bolt on ? Yes I have the orginal bellhousing the truck is driven as we speak, I just want to up grade or have a plan B if you know what I mean.
Thanks for your help.

If your replacement transmission has a 10 spline input shaft, everything inside the bellhousing stays the same. If it has a 26 spline input, you will have to change the clutch disc and that is all. The S-10 requires shortening the input shaft and bearing retainer as well as replacing the disc.
