When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

A guy I work with who knows I'm into the old Chevy's has been telling me about an old truck stuck in the mud on his property in McMinville OR for a few years now. Every time the subject came up I'd say "Get some pics and I'll tell you what you've got." He never did. Eventually by showing him pics of various bodystyles we determined he had a 67-72 GMC.

So the other day he says "I'm moving. If you can get that truck out it's yours." I'm game So I'm dreamin of a 4wd tilt tach buckets A/C At least some parts worth taking if not a builder.

Finally made it out there yesterday and it's a complete 1969 GMC 1500 Super... 2wd zero options and would required some serious hackage of blackberry bushes and relocating of downed trees to get it out to a road. Not to mention the soaked incline it sits on

I was tempted to pull some parts but there wasn't anything I really needed and it was raining so I just snapped a few shots.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

Honestly I would love to snag it. Guess I should have taken some shots of the 2 mile winding mountain dirt/mud road just to get to his property. I don't think a trailer would make some of the bends. Then, it's probably a two day job just to get it to solid ground, and I live 1.5 hrs away.

I wish he had offered it over the summer...

If anyone wants it, PM and I'll give you the guys info. I think there's about a month window before he's gone. I'd love to see this thing rescued.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

If its a 1500, how come it has 2500 running gear? (8-luggers) It looks like a keeper to me. Hook right on to that SOB, give her some good yanks, Then up to dry ground. Then, you can drive it down his driveway, if it runs to, a trailer. GET IT!!

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

if you cant restore it, its worth parting, especially since it wont cost you anything but time and a few gallons of chainsaw gas! you could get your troubles worth of money from parts.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...

The right front fender looks replaced.Maybe both are from a 1500.That chrome grille trim on the leading edge of the hood and the Custom script on the doors are worthy salvage.
