Question should i buy this jimmy ?

hey guys ive got a chance at a 71 gmc jimmy , 4wd , its got some mud in the rear quarters and a few dings here and there , floors look in great shape , it is a 327 , 4spd 205 , runs really really well , it was this fellas daily driver , he said 1400.00 , i am strictly going to buy it if i do to turn over on ebay for a profit , think there is much of a profit to be had ? ill get some pics on here in a few minutes , you be the judge , also has factory tach , power brakes , power steering , a wierf roll bar that im not sure if it is factory or not , the floor braces on the outside are rusted bad , , this truck runs and drives excellent , would make a great driver/resto project , are the jimmys worth more than the blazers ? , you guys tell me , he knocked it down to 1300 when i just went over , whats you folks thoughts ?

hey thanks for the offers , i am going to sell it but i cant do it just yet , first i need to buy it , i appreciate all the offers , i have had about 10 different pm,s with offers , i will say this , when it comes up for sale it will probably be for sale on ebay , i dont want to make any enemies here , some guys have made offers first and some have made higher offers , naturally im going to want to go with the highest offer , but i dont want to change the pecking order by not taking the first offer , this thread is kinda turning into an auction so what will happen is it will go on ebay and i will post a link to it in a few days as soon as i get it listed , it will have a reserve set of just a hair over what i paid for it which is 1300 , so the reserve will be at 1600 .00 i think that is fair seeing as how they will pull at least 100 from my account to list it , that way i dont step on any toes and everyone is on an equal playing field , the first guy has the same chance at buying it as the last guy. i extremely hope this doesnt upset anyone or make me any enemies but this is the best way i know how to handle it , i hope you feel this is fair

thanks
Mac Frederick

Talking got it home todya

welll i went to the bank today anbd my next stop was the jimmy , fired it right up and drove it home , went all over it , it drove down the highway great , runs great , carrys great oil pressure , no bcakfires or sputters , didnt over heat , so the runs and drives gret thing stands , floors are in awsome shape , i found one small spot of rust smaller than a dime right behind the driver seet on the verticle step right there at the seem , the passenger side rocker box looks like a new one , no rust through anywhere on it , the driver side rocker box could be replaced , the rocker is fine but the box is rusted through , this is a list of things that if i were going to keep it i would change or fix ,

1 driver rocker box
2 seat covers
3 the top at each corner of the windshield frame seems loose , i dont know if it needs new nuts in the top or what , center anchors are fine
4 the rear hatch latch would probably need replaced becase it wont latch , so that is where probably 95% of the rattles come from ,
5 there are 2 dents that i found , one at the rear right in front of the fuel cap , looks like it could be pulled with a plunger but right in the center of it looks like it has been hit with a rock , see pictures ,,, the other dent is in the lower front corner of the pass side door ,
6 its got new carpet up front , could use some for the back , there is carpet for infront of the back seat but none for behind it

7 , the tail light wiing was messed up at some point so the previous owner cut a 1 inch by 1 inch square in the very back of the floor and ran all the tail light wires up through the floor and then in a 1/4 inch piece of pvc ran it across the baclk of the floor , he was having problems with the turn signals so he did that to work on it easier , the turn signal cam in the column needs replaced

8 the brakes are a little stiff , if i were going to keep it i would probably change the master cylinder , she seems a little stiff on the pedal

9 i would change the door rubbers and the rear hatch rubbers , and then alighn the doors a little better and the rear hatch , so she would seal a little better

the majority of this stuff is tinkering and cosmetic , the tires are good for another year id say , they still got a little hide left on them , the reason i would change this stuff is for a more comfortable enjoyable ride , it also needs the middle lever on the heater control and probably a new fan switch , read over that list , almost all of it is cosmetic tinkering , this truck is a perfect platform for a resto , or a daily driver , the previous owner drove it to work 30 miles round trip every day ,for over a year , and it never let him down , the good points ive found about it

1 its not rusted out , there looks to be a little bit of bondo in the lower quarters maybe , if i look inside it looks like metal , if there is i would say it isnt much

2factory tach dash , all gauges work except needs a speedo cable , looks to be factory original bucket seats and rear seat looks original ,

3 floors are in awsome shape not beat up or rusted out ,

4 runs like a sewing machine , exhaust is not over powering loud , nice muffled tone to it ,

5 the dash pad is black with not one crack in it

6 clutch feels like a new one , shifts great with no slipping , 4wd all works excellent , also has new u joints in the rear , steers straight down the road with very very very minimal wandering ,

7 its a fulll convertable 4wd , what more could you want

8 all the glass in it is flawless with no cracks any where

9 if i had to guess the ratio i would say 3:73's got a good lowside and really good highway gears

if you all have any questions about it or want pics of specific areas let me know , it will probably go on ebay this sunday around 6:30 central time , ohh yeah the top is a double wall also , make a great daily driver or resto project , or youre good ole huntin truck , just think guys lynrd skynrd on the radio , with youre best girl in the other seat , top off , 95 degrees out , cruisin the beach !!!! hahaha ,
