A couple questions on a rear tank install on 72 fleetside lwb

Guys, a little help if possible. I am doing a blazer tank install on my 72 gmc lwb and just want to be sure of a couple things before I take the cutting tools to the underside of my truck. In the picture I have 2 arrows. The top points to what is the bottom support of the bed, I think it has to be removed. Am I correct? Also, the bottom arrow points to what I think is the spare tire mounting bracket. I think it has to come out also. Can someone confirm that I am on the right track here?

I am planning on doing the rear marker light install once the tank is installed. Thanks in advance for your comments and insight!

This i want to see too. Plan on getting mine in pretty soon.
Now i know the spare tire braket has to come out, and my tank is out of a suburban, so the rear cross member has to be moved back about 4 inches.

This i would like to see too.

Yes, you are correct, both need to come out. Here is a photo of my tank so you get an idea on how it sits. There are more photos on my build thread link below.

It looks like you have leaf springs- is it a 4x4? If so, you don't have to hack the whole box crossmember out. Just position the tank forward so the filler ends up in front of it. I'm working on mine today- I'll post pics later.

Ive got one of these tanks in my longbed and yes you have to remove the smaller lower brace, and I just trimmed the bed support for more clearance because mine is lowered, but i dont think you have to

You will need to notch the bed cross sill just between the frame rails so the fill neck gets above the frame rail. WES

Now is the notching of the bed support for top clearance of the tank or just for the filler neck??

Re: A couple questions on a rear tank install on 72 fleetside lwb

Here's some crummy pics. My body lift made it easier. I don't have the filler done yet- it's just a hose in the wheelwell so far. It looks like the tank would have to go further forward yet to clear the bed crossmember. On another note, I'm running 56" rear springs, so my rear spring hangers are further back.
