You Guyz Got Me Thinking About a Tilt Column and...
I found one at a junkyard, I told him I needed a Chevy van 72-81 complete with wheel. Is $125 a good deal? Thanks, H.

Sounds about average. I got a truck tilt for $175 which is also about average.

More likely to see one around here for sale for about $100 - don't know what a junkyard would ask. $125 wouldn't be a bad price if everything is tight and you don't have to worry about it getting damaged in transit.

The ones I have pulled at a yard have been less than $50.

$125 sounds high to me for a van tilt. I'd say more like $50 or $75 if it is pretty nice.

I got an original truck tilt from another board member for that price, sounds kinda high for a van tilt.

The length of the steering shaft.The van is aabout 3 inches longer,the PRNDLL indicator is a little different,and the levers have different handles.that's about it.

^ Plus the neutral safety switch. It will have to be moved to fit a truck.

I normally pay 25 - 30 bucks for them locally.
i would call some other yards, and if they have a good price but don't have any on hand...I'd wait untill they do. Also, I would personally go to a pick your own part type place...no rerason to pay some one else for what you can do, and plus it'll let you know a little of what you have to do. |
