81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

ANyone ever seen a 1981-1987 with the full removable top before. I had a guy who said he has one going to email me pictures of it. He says that he bought it a year after it was made, at a Chevy dealership in Oklahoma. It was a sheriffs K-9 car and he bought it off the lot there.

I should be getting pictures of it Monday night and I will try and post them on here.

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

I know that was the official year, from 1973-1975. I am wondering what kind of modification was done on this one. Maybe someone on here knows of a company or place that did that back in the 70's or 80's.

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

People have been doing conversions on these for years. Change the windshield frame and add the full top from the 73-75. I had an 82 that was done that way back in 1989. Tell him to send you detailed pics of the windshield frame where it meets the firewall.

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

I knew it could be done, but it was cool that it was only one year old when it was done. I may try and find someone at the old dealership where he bought it to find out some more information.

I had a 73 2wd Blazer a few years ago and thought about keeping it to cut off the a-pillars.

$5200 nice. Its a 2WD,no options, no ac or any power options. Guy who has it said it has no rust, etc. Has an inexpensive paint job right now.

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

Looks nice. Not sure if it's worth the asking price mainly because of the lack of options. Did he say exactly what year it was? I ask only because 82 was the last year for 2wd. Looks like and 81/82 thats been converted to me. These are just my personal opinions as if I were looking at it for myself, but if this truck is worth the asking price to you then it's worth it. The values on these trucks has so many variables, it's hard to nail it down. Good luck with your decision. Looks like a nice ride and it's a full convertible.

The full-top conversion and a rust-free 2wd Blazer would be worth that,I think.A better optioned, better paint, one with more on it could go for much more. He`s not giving it away, but I wouldn`t walk away if it`s what you want.

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

Looks sharp...judging by the grille it looks to be an 81ish K5 in 2wd form.
Definately not factory as 73-75 was the only years a full vert was in the gm k5 stable in the 2nd gen sheet metal. I have seen many k5's over the years that have been converted...

Re: 81-87 Blazer W/Full Removable Top

Looks nice anyway. You can always negotiate and add options later. Drive with top off and forget the A/C would be my choice. Would be nice if he had a full softop included at that price. As others say on the site, make sure the torque boxes were beefed up?
I wish mine had a full top.

I will assume your offering those for free. Trying to slip in a "For Sale" post would be against the forum rules....
