will these wheels work??

Someone offered me a set of wheels (set of 4) 20x8 with 4.5" backspacing.
My all stock 1969 c10 is being fitted next week with an ece 4.5/6 drop and their 5 lug front disc conversion along with 5 lug rear axles to be fitted into the stock 1969 rear end.

My truck has no front inner fenders,(were removed when I originally was going to do air ride)

Will this backspacing work? I believe the the rear will be a tad narrower? Would these wheels with spacers in back work??

Just dont want to buy them if they are gonna be wrong, but if they will work the price is right and cant pass them up.

Im guessing 245/40/20 or 255/40/20 might be a good size all the way around??

Thanks guys!!!

Re: will these wheels work??

I had a bagged 72 with 20x8's with a 4" backspace, you should be plenty fine with 4 1/2".

Re: will these wheels work??

Can't imagine there'd be a problem, though if you have the earlier 69 narrow rear axle a 4 1/2 bs will be tucked in pretty far and with the extra 1" from the disc conversion there'll be a pretty big difference between the front and rear distance to outer fender. A 275 rear would likely touch the inside rear fender (again, with the narrow rear 69).

Never seen an 8" 20 though. I thought here were usually at least 9".

I agree, you may end up deciding to run a spacer on the rear to get the fronts and rears spaced away from the fender lips the same amount.

Right, personally I don't like wheel spacers, I'd rather put a 71/72 rear in first, they still won't line up because of the drop spindles, but it would be a lot closer and then he could run a smaller spacer if he wanted.

Lol, I wish this damn truck came with 5 lug!

How do I determine which 69 rear end I have??

Re: will these wheels work??

Just went outside, my truck currently has 9.5x16.5 bias ply tires all the way around

Section width on these is 9.50"

If I run a 245/45/20 it would.have the same 9.50" section width

Just would be shorter in overall tire diameter

Its pretty tight as far as clearance to the inner bed side fenderwell

It looks to have clearance in from the outer fenderwell lips of the body

So how much am i losing in the front once I install the ece drop spindle kit with front disc 5 lug conversion??

How about the rear when I put in the new ece 5 lug axles? Would it still be the same as it is now in the back?

So if stock back spacing is 4"
And my wheels are 4.5" does that mean it moves the wheels a 1/2" more outward than stock? Or move them more inward??
