Shoulder belts ????
Has anyone installed shoulder/lap seat belts in a 68? Do they "ride" ok? Are they binding/uncomfortable? Needing to buy belts and was just curious. Thanks Gary

Re: Shoulder belts ????
I had OEM shoulder bets for all my trucks when they got restored. I ended up selling them. One:because I needed money, two:because I'm not doing a 100% original restoration where it would matter, and three:because I got to thinking they would be really awkward with two big separate buckles and sets off straps. I'll either stay with lap bets or find decent newer shoulder/lap belts. Someone would be wise to start making shoulder/lap belts using the OEM type buckles to look "as if" they were original. It's not like there are many factory shoulder belts to go around and lap belts have been deemed questionably beneficial.

Re: Shoulder belts ????
. . . .
I'm very pleased with the "new" belts I had made at Morris Classic Concepts for my 70. They "ride" very well and don't pull on my shoulder at all. The only thing I've noticed is that I have to pull them out slowly to put them on or they will lock up. I've had the same experience with the original type as Tim ( above ) they ARE a pain in the NECK !!! . . . . |

We sell a nice bolt in 3 point belt kit also. Comes with the special brackets to locate the retractors and all hardware included. I have installed several kits and will be installing another here in a couple of weaks. WES

Re: Shoulder belts ????
I have stock shoulder belts in my truck and they are a pain. I never use them. I fear the problem with them is that if you ever get pulled over and you are not using them, you are going to have a difficult time explaining to the cop that 99% of these trucks did not have them and you should not have to use them. Unless you are going for an absolute correct truck, I would buy some like the one’s Wes sells.

Re: Shoulder belts ????
I pulled a set out of a 80's F**d van and made brackets to mount them. No issues. Used the factory top mount hole in the cab.
