6 cyl. (250) ps brackets

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the power steering brackets on the older 250's such as 71 & 72's and the newer ones like the mid-80's model engines with the integrated head? Will the newer brackets work on the older engines?

Sorry... had to make my own. THe pump on a 71-72 six resided on the driverside, more so towards the bottom.

With that, I would go to a Pick N Pull and look at an integrated head and see if it roughly resides in the same place. Draw a sketch maybe of threaded hole layouts and compare.

Re: 6 cyl. (250) ps brackets

The new style integrated head are different. Our years brackets bolt (at least partially) to the head, while the newer ones bolt to the block. Also, the newer integrated heads have a different harmonic balancer spacing on the pulleys. There is a bit more space between the two pulley grooves. Enough to be a big pain in keeping pulleys aligned and belts on.

Your best bet is to find everything from one engine, so that all the pieces match up.
