For those who appreciate a correct restoration

Sometimes with all the mods we do to our rigs, their original factory state is forgotten
....not on this one.

That is one sweet truck. I hope he does sale it for the $36,000 buy now price. I would hate to know I had that for sale at that price and needed the money. I doubt this economy is going to help sell it though!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Best restoration I have yet to see. Would be nice if they had different wheels and tires though and some T3 headlights.

Why did he spend all the time on the truck to make it as close to factory and then go put side post terminals on it. I've never had any luck with those, they have always leaked on me. Has the compressor been converted over to R134-A as well, the ports look bigger. Just a couple things I've noticed.

The brake booster is also black, and I believe it should be cad. plated. If you are going to go to this extreme, you should at least put the correct wheel covers on it, as well as the correct air cleaner. It is still a very very nice truck though, and I would be proud to own it. You could eat off the chassis too.

We just don't have a structure that is in the business of judging these trucks as restorations, do we? I mean that the Tri-5 Chevies have a National organization. Mustanger's have their organization. What we need is something of a national/international structure that would be a ruling body and have a set of standards that would be used for grading/judging that would put everyone who wanted to be part of it, on the same page. There are numerous antique vehicle clubs, like the AACA, MOTAA and others that serve the hobby by the implementation of standards.

Now, with that said, who wants to do it and how would you set it up?

Scott the booster could be black if bendix, cad plated if delco moraine, looks like he might have gone a little sticker crazy w/ one on fan shroud and placement of the harrison sticker on evap box. I agree the full wheel covers should be on it if he is going for the total restore look.

Hey Harold- I was assuming the booster was Delco Moraine, that's all I have seen on the C-10's around here....was also going to mention placement of the A/C box and fan shroud stickers

Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic truck and a lot of time was spent on it. I just can't stand the fact that it's got a NEW 454 built to 455 HP instead of the original motor, doesn't sound very concourse to me. I also agree about the wheel covers, I vote chrome dogdish since I like those more. Ralley's (IMO) are the most hideous wheels ever and he put them on this truck

Beautiful job but it probably would be more accurate to say "meticulous" restoration rather than "correct". I don't get why he would go to the trouble of all the markings and tags and then put non- correct items on it. Gorgeous nonetheless.

That's a sweet pickup.

I've got no real interest in making my truck or any old car EXACTLY as it was when it was new. My interest lies in making them look, sound and perform like I want them to. Some guys like the mods I've pulled off and some guys don't. I've never owned a car or truck that was so nice that all I could do with it was push it on and off a trailer and collect my trophies and tell guys "thanks" when they tell me how they like what I've done with it....And I probably never will. I'm sure that if a sanctioning body was established that laid out guidelines for what was a "correct" restoration, there would be individuals that would strive to create the perfect "correct" resto....I would not be one of them. I'm personaly more interested in seeing trucks that are built correctly. By correctly I mean no cobbled up pieces of rolling scrap. No death rigs and rolling buckets of body filler. Show me a truck that turns heads and still turns five, ten or fifteen thousand miles a year on the odometer and I will be impressed. Show me a survivor that's never had anything done but the upkeep required to keep it on the road and I will be impressed. Show me an old ratty looking pickup with an owner that has the confidence to get behind the wheel and drive it anywhere, and I will be impressed. Introduce me to the guy who inherited his truck from a close relative and wants to keep it exactly as it was when it came to his possesion (right down to the tacky JC whitney/pep boys accessories that whomever it was inherited it from installed) and I will be impressed.

Long story short...My opinion doesn't mean squat. Don't worry about who thinks your truck is correct. Build it like you want it. In the meantime...I guess we'll continue to police ourselves concerning what is and is not correct on these old trucks.

The metal GM sticker on the door jams is a 67 only thing isn't it?

Invader 400 on a 72 chevy?

The exhaust hangers are correct, but the straps are not.

Still , it is a VERY nice truck.

I believe you are correct on the gm jamb sticker being 67.
Pretty sure the invader was a gmc thing.
