first weekend at the track (with this truck)

so i finally finished my bbc swap and everything into my swb and figured it was time to make a couple passes this past sunday. well heres the outcome for you guys/gals...

1 pass:

60'- 1.633
330- 4.965
1/8- 7.776
mph- 88.21
1000- 10.161
1/4- 12.167
mph- 112.33

2 pass:

60'- 1.691
330- 4.915
1/8- 7.644
mph- 90.01
1000- 9.996
1/4- 11.988
mph- 112.95

3 pass:

60'- 1.637
330- 4.851
1/8- 7.532
mph- 91.29
1000- 9.873
1/4- 11.871
mph- 112.48

i was also able to barrow my bosses scales today!!!

trucks total weight is 3918lbs without me in it, i roughly weigh 250 so thats 4168lbs going down the track...

here are the corner weights-

LF-1180

RF-1120

LR- 783

RR- 835

i was running an old pair of hoosier quick time pros witch are 29x14.5's...

i figure with minor tuning and dropping down to some new sticky 28" tires i should be easly 11.50's on motor alone.

let me know what you guys think... as this was the first time for the truck to be to the track!

ohh yeah here are some pics (sorry i dont know how to post vids):

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

Nice passes!! What are the specs on that motor?

Dragtimes.com calculator says ~ 477 HP at the flywheel

Rear suspension?

I built a similar motor in a full weight 72 SWB, so I'd really like to know how much I can compare.

Damn I miss my truck - not to mention the track

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

You're not to far off from my times my dyno sheets say 684 peak hp and 585 peak torque. I keep hearing that i'm not making that kind of power if i'm only running 11.30's because of these online dyno's. But then i see you're numbers. Of course you're still playing with traction, tuning etc. etc. When i first started i was in the 12's until i started tunning. I know that my gears are hurting my times being i'm only going through the traps around 5800 rpm, which according to my dyno sheets i'm loosing almost 80hp. Going to try gears next. I believe our trucks can dip into the high 10's with some more tweaking. Awsome truck by the way.

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

69trk- thanks for the compliments, yeah its still a work in progress and with 4168 going down the tracks a little rough! have you put a cage in your truck yet? im thinking like mid summer i might put a fogger on it and spray a little or maybe next season and over the winter cage mine.

i think i figured out this video thing (sorry if it doesnt work) hope ya all enjoy if it does work... sorry about the end it was my dad taking the vid on my digi cam so he doesnt know how it all works...

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

I haven't caged it as of yet, waiting until i round up some more cash. I just moved the battery to the rear under the bed using a battery drop out box and still waiting for my new lift off fiberglass hood. I'll cage it probably this winter also. Found a guy here in ok. that does awsome moly work. I also emailed fuelcell guy to build me a aluminum tank with rear sump to go underneath the bed. What rearend do you have under you're truck, can't remember if it was leaf or coils? Seamed to hook pretty good on you're video, but i believe you're 60' should be alot better. What's you're timming at? Also what converter you running?

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

rehead69: thank you

69trk: nice let me know when you cage it! i would be interested in pics. im actually running my stock rear just has a mini spool and hardened shafts, its a 3.73 coil sprung, timing was at 40 degrees full advance, and my converter is a 10 inch tci street fighter, your track allows you to run an 11.30 without a cage?

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

Good to see another truck out there Right now we are fairly close in times NA/NA (11.95@113 best). I know I have a little more in mine but I think you have quite a bit more in yours.

No they won't, but they'll let a z06 vette without a cage. I went ahead and loaded it up because i knew they would be waiting for me at the starting line. They already gave me a warning when i was running ll.50's, No cage, fire jacket and only a lap belt. I agree with them, i need to be safer. I might try to take it to amarillo tx. It's a ihra track and my dad can be there to watch. It's to hard for him to travel to far to see it run. I might take it out a couple more times this year then cage it. I'll send pictures as soon as i cage it.

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

69..

It is fun to hang out with pops while at the track. The last time we got to do that I was in 5th grade (19 years ago). I took him to the track the last time I went. We were there for 3 days. Next time out, I'm gonna take him again (since he is retired now) slap a low timing tune in the truck and let him run it down the track a few times. If he is comfortable in it, I might put the full tune back in it. He's an old hot roder and has not been behind the wheel of something like this since the late 60's..

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

I asked him if he would like to make a pass and he said hell no. He's 76 and his health is not real good. Probably a good thing that he doesn't want to, can't afford to loose either one of them.

Re: first weekend at the track (with this truck)

hell yeah going to the track with the old man is fun!!! my dad is the one who took those pictures and video's.. he loves it and loves sharing his experiences of when he used to go to the track (he's 60 and im 22). he loves going to watch the races or help out with what he can in the pits. im with all of you guys though, i try to convince my dad to make a pass down the track, he's got an srt8 300c that ive made a few passes in and i think this year ill get him to make a pass!

69trk: thanks id be interested in seeing the pictures when you get around to it.
