Switching to single Plain and Plate system on my LS1

I decided to try and different set up. Here are pics of what it looks like. Need to wait till end of the month though That's ok. That will give me time to pull the motor, paint the block and heads orange, clean up the engine bay and hide some of my wiring. Might even try to relocate the coil packs and really clean it up. I'm sure it will confuse people even more.

"You got a ford motor in that???"

Re: Switching to single Plain and Plate system on my LS1

if u use the front mount dist. u wouldnt' need to remount coils. personally i like the look of the coils on the valve covers. i would love to have a ls engine in my truck. how much is the pcm, and harness used to control coils if using carb

I don't care for a distributor as you can't dial in the timing like yo ucan on the laptop. But hiding the coils would just clean things up IMO. How to hide the injector wiring. That's the question.

Re: Switching to single Plain and Plate system on my LS1

carbed LS1's are so bad ass... I read an article about them recently in Chevy Hi. Sounds like you like the DIS? Its so far out of my world that im pretty intimidated by them, but the more and more people that put LSX's in their old cars, the easier its going to get. You have easily one of my favorite trucks on the board- post some pics when you get it installed!

Re: Switching to single Plain and Plate system on my LS1

Thats a vic JR, but same idea.. There are very few people that have a Super Vic right now.

Tuning is honestly very easy once you get a handle on it. You can simply change your air fuel with a couple clicks of the mouse. Same with timing. Sure Idle tuning is more dificult, but it aint that bad either. Don't let it intinidate you..

I'm thinking I am going to loose a little bellow 5k but my converter comes on at 4,900. The gain I think I can get on top, might just be worth it. If not, well, I can always sell it and but something else. But I do plan on going to a solid roller in the near future. I think 7-8k will really shine with the single plain. That's the one thing I love about this sport. The constant tinkering.

Re: Switching to single Plain and Plate system on my LS1

Some times it works and others it looses power. I think it has to do with the heads and cam profile though. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
