Re: confused

This man is need of a bumper (picture) and wants to know what a fair price is for one. I responded to his original post.

I have read the rules and haven't found the part that says you can't ask that unless you are a member. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

I did send Josh a msg cause I dont want to break rules by responding either.

Re: confused

I wouldn't think asking what a bumper would cost from a board vendor would be considered breaking the WIW rule?

Re: confused

I see the trend changing my self it is now black or white on this subject. I thought a pink member could ask is this truck a good deal for the price? Now that is a WIW thread but falls into the grey area. I agree you should not be able to slap your truck up and say hey WIW with out bing a supporter but lately we don't even want to see the direction the thread is going just lock it down. I can understand the confustion on bumper pricing from someone who is new to this. Pricing is all over the board on some items and then you have to consider tripple plated with warranty vs standard. Sorry for the rant but I just think sometimes we get a little lock happy when the question is simple and may help more than one person.

I agree. That's why I didn't think anything about telling pat123 what a bumper might sell for around here. If you click on the picture of his truck you'll see that this brother is in need of one for sure.... Looks like it went through a shredder.. No offense, pat123.

Re: confused

Its not a big deal...Just pay the $25 and help out the board. I have not sold a part...sold a truck or asked a WIW question..(sellin my wheels though..BUT I paid the $25 to support the best web site I found, THIS ONE. I have learned tons of info fron this site...More than $25 can get anywhere these days. Its worth it just in the chatting with some of these experts on here....even if you can do it without paying. Just my 2cents. Well WORTH IT.

Re: confused

Just so your clear on the rules it goes something like this. If a non subscriber shows a picture of a truck that he plans to buy and asks if it's a good deal at $xx.xxx that's just fine. If he says where can I buy a truck, it is not fine. That is the same as a "Wanted to Buy".

That same formula applies to parts, etc.

I hate to keep dragging this one on, but I still haven't haven't been able to locate the "WIW" rule. I have read and reread the rules above and haven't found it. Is it possible that someone can refer me to where I can find it?

We really should be consistent on this and I believe that it should be simple and easy to find. (e.g.) "Unless you are a paid subscribing member, you cannot ask what a vehicle or any part of that vehicle is worth or what you should pay for it."

btw: Here's the link to the original thread that was locked. He want's to know what it would cost to buy a bumper for his truck.

Re: confused

After seeing 68gmsee was having a problem finding the rule, I decided to go look. Been a long time since I've even read those things. I couldn't find anything about WIW posts either. And if it is there, it's not easy to find or very clear. Since it's such an issue, seems like it would be very prominent and easy to find in the rules section....

Of course, being on here every day I know it's a no-no, but newbies won't.

P.S. It could perfectly well be that I am just blind

I read it the same way. Especially after clicking on the picture of pat123's truck.

Anyway, I do agree that the $25 is well worth it, but lets not get crazy and lock threads out for minor infractions without explaining why. Especially for young and/or newcomers that will be the supporters in the future. I think that after people are here for a while and see how much help this site is they will offer to help.

pat123, I don't see where you broke any rules by asking what a chrome bumper goes for. If someone can show me where I was wrong in responding to your original thread, I will apologize to the staff.
