What did you get done?

Well its that time. Lets hear what you got done.
I myself, spent the morning and afternoon tamming the wild weeds of North Texas. The Barn was hopping. Had a new board member up from Houston,
(plugger7) find a great deal on a swb frame. This guy was relentless, and when the dust setteled, he had a swb frame on his trailor headed for some fun sandblasting and painting. Tx Firefighter came to get a steal on some 6-lug slots. With his safty instruction and expert tool handling the slots were no match and found themselves loaded in the back of his truck.
It's always great to see baord members and share parts and stories.
Thanks, Plugger7 (AKA Glenn )and TxFirefighter (AKA Kevin).

Good board gathering!

Saturday Chickenwing and I went Junk Yarding and I got a Coca Cola for $1. Four yards and zero stuff for me. I did have a great time with Chickenwing. We ate hamburgers and fries at Jaspers in Rocklin and guacamole and chips at his home. I will return for a 1 1/4" sway bar and alternator bracket next Saturday.

Sunday went to Stockton to a swap meet car show at the Fairgrounds. Drank Starbucks and chatted with friend Al while we drove there. Met friend Jeff as he was trying to sell his 52 Chevy 5-window. Found two fans, one flywheel cover, two cleaning brushes, and found a pair of Tahoe leather seats with 3-point harness for $50 and bought them for $40.

Sunday evening recieved a call from person I previously contacted that was selling a rolling 67 C10 frame (no steering column), bed, tailgate, cab (cab corner metal included), front clip, and a good power steering box. Priced right and I bought it without seeing it. Some parts will be for sale. Some days the tail does not wag you.

Now my 70 will turn into a 67 and it will not make Hot August Nights this year.

Next week: Junk Yarding and 67 recovery on Saturday and car show and swap meet on Sunday.

Sat. went recreational junk-yarding with Tomatocity, aka Tim. Had a great time. I'm a little farther along with my truck than Tim so it was great to be with someone that still has lots of enthusiasm. Yards were pretty barren. Still found a few things. Scored what I hope is a factory tool bag for my jack handle and lug wrench. Also picked up a hood latch so I can do Putters in cab hood release mod.

Sun. Pretty much kicked it.. Enlarged a bolt hole in my neighbors 12si alt. He runs early Broncos, still a nice guy though. He invited me over for beer and bar-b-q and who was I to say no?! Came home and watched movies with the girls and later had to go outside and let a sniffer know I was watching him while he was talking to my oldest.

Well this weekend I clearanced a bunch of my cab floor, rear of cab and the bed supports so my driveshaft will clear, installed my fuel cell, holley blue, filter and regulator. I should be hooking up my Nitrogen this week finally getting away from the Manual fill on the bags. I'll try and put some pics up later today.

Hey put the Stockton Car Show and Swap Meet on your calendar for next year. I have been there twice in teh last five years and the swap meet was excellent as was the smaller car show.

Rearranged the shop to squeeze in as much as I could for Dennis, then moved it back around so I can start working on things again. Gotta love the Gulf coast.

I made 300 super nice green Hay bales, hay season all by myself with no helpers this year. Yesterday I installed the 350 I rebuilt in my newly painted bright red 72 Chevy 4x4. Soon to be fired up and hood reinstalled.

Finished getting the new headers and intake on the truck. Had to grind the intake a lot and ballpeen the headers. Real pain in the ass. Ran out of manifold clamps, had to improvise. Finally got everything bolted up, throttle linkage didn't fit right. Fired her up anyway. Man, talk about loud. Sounded like I had a half dozen Harleys in my garage! Not sure if I've got any leakage or not, but it seemed to run pretty well. Just need a solution for my throttle linkage problems.

No pics right now, camera was at work, forgot to bring it home.

Shaved a few unused holes in the firewall of the '67 cab that is headed for my '69 stepper, while they are easy to get to. Removed the non-A/C dash. Trimmed & test fitted the A/C dash that I bought a while back from Fade. Removed all the old seam-sealer.

Then the rain showed up (thanks to Hurricane Dennis), so I packed it up and went inside.

Got the 71' out of the garage (finally done) and drove it about 25 miles. Suprised the hell out of me when I nailed the gas from a dead stop and got sideways for about 50 feet. Now I need a buyer!

Started stripping and priming the facia boards on the house. This kind'a work sucks in 100 degree heat. No wait, it suck no matter what the temperature. Looks like it'll be many evenings of the same thing for a while until done.... then I get to paint it the final color.

File fit piston rings for the 383, what a tedious process to get them exactly right. Deburred pistons and washed them. Installed petcock water jacket block drains. The little details take the most time.

I completed about 80% Of the wiring under the hood, got the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor installed, as well as turning it over for the first time since i dropped the 350 in a few months ago. Tomorrow I'll put some gas in the tank and she should fire up for me.

Helped out on a front axle u joint replacement on a Jeep GC. Loved the fact that the valve cover on the 70 I finally got to stop leaking. Drove the truck to the cruise night (parked as far away as possible). Oh, I did put the speakers in new boxes for a little better sound ( as good as blown speakers can give)
