1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

I have tried to search and find the answer to my question but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I am putting a 350 TBI out of a 1990 k1500 into my 1967 SWB c10. Just got the motor pulled out of the 90 last night.

I learned from Dirty Larry's thread that the original TBI manifolds (I want to keep stock manifolds) won't work with stock 67-72 SBC engine stands: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=312391

And this FAQ shows how to adapt 73-87 clamshell stands into a 67-72: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=128765

I guess my two questions are...
1. Will the clamshell mount & stands from the 1990 k1500 adapt the same as the 73-87 ones in the above FAQ?

2. I am bolting the TBI to my th350.........Will the new stands move the placement of the motor and require me to get dirty dingo engine sliders to get the motor in the right spot to mate the trans?

You're taking out a sbc, and putting in a sbc. Why not run the 67-72 mounts AND manifolds? It seems to me everything should fit just fine.

Just theorizing. Not speaking from experience.

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

Sorry guess I left out that part. My 67 has a 305 that someone had put in it some point in its life. Its also has some old crappy headers on the 305.

I should have clarified instead of only stating I had SBC 67-72 stands currently. I do have SBC 67-72 mounts, with a 305 on them.

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

It is my experience that the engine mount brackets from a '73-'87 C20 or C30 will fit the early C10 frames better than the engine mount brackets from a C10. The clamshells and engine mounts from the '90 K1500 should work with the '73-'87 C20/30 brackets

Captainfab, thanks for clarifying. That really helps out. I saw a post where you had said that same thing earlier. Forgot about the c10 / c20 stand difference on my quest to see if the 90 model stands were different from 73-87.

Now that my first question is answered, do you know about the placement of the engine in the 73&up c20 stands in relation with my th350?
Will the engine be moved, forward or backward , requiring me to get "Dirty Dingo" sliders to bolt the TBI to the TH350?

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

These are the dirty dingo sliders that allow for 3 inches of adjustement: Dingo GM 3 Bolt Adjustable Mounts https://www.dirtydingo.com/shop/prod...oducts_id=1363

I could order them, but if the motor stays in the same place after I install the 73 & up engine stands (towers, perches)....... then the engine will indeed bolt up to the th350 as-is and I woudn't need any adjustment.

I haven't been able to find if someone claims the upgrade to clamshell style perches moves the motor forward or rearward any. Just don't want to order something if I don't need it.

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

I have not done exactly what you are wanting to do. But it would be my guess that installing the '73-'87 C20/30 engine mount brackets in the location where they would bolt up to the crossmember, will move your engine back some from the '67-'72 SBC location. The holes in the top flange of the frame would need to be drilled and the flange trimmed back some as well on a '67.

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

I guess all I can do is bolt the motor in and check at this point! I had seen the FAQ about installing the 73&up stands...I know I’ll have to trim some on the frame since it’s a 67, shouldn’t the top 2 holes line up?

Re: 1967 c10 TBI Swap Engine Mount

If you line up 2 of the holes on top of the frame, you will have to drill new holes in the crossmember.
