Crate engine info
Hello folks,
I have an 84 C10 short bed with a 350 the PO installed. I am considering replacing it and am looking at an easy swap. I am not interested in an LS swap. I am not looking to race it, just a good strong, reliable motor preferably over the 290 hp base engine. Your thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated! TIA, Kevin |

If you want a complete engine you could do something like this...
Engine This is similar to what I did in my 65 c10. Its a good engine...Mine dynoed at 310 HP after it was built. if you want cheaper, you could buy a bare block and build it yourself, but I went in this direction because I wasn't confident in building it, but if I had to do it again, I would build it myself. Here is a pic of my engine how it sits now... |

I'm leaning towards one of these HT383 stump pullers for a 4x4
https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...-engine/ht-383 323 HP @4200 RPM / 444 LB-FT @3000 RPM steel crank, hyp pistons, iron heads = tough and street reliable and on regular pump gas  all new with legit national warranty around $5k

I'm in the same boat, looking for a crate to replace my tired old small block. Right now I am considering the 350 HO, seems like the best bang for your buck.
https://www.chevroletperformancestor...ge/350-ho-base I'm budget conscious (cheap) though, and I have been phoning around, apparently there are some crate engines that sit around for years and they just need to get rid of them. Looking for a deal, always.
