HEI plug wires for ramhorns!

Hey I found a set of hei plug wires that fits our ramhorns really well. Not too long and not too short, straight boots also! They are made by Standard. (Standard Plus) Part # is 6870. Just thought I'd pass this on, I know I've seen threads awhile back about what set works best and I think this is the best I've seen, Greg

Got any pics of them installed? Do they come over the top?

Any parts store would have the wires in the right length...just ask for a 75 corvette set of wires. They had ram horn manifolds and HEI stock.

I was thinking of posting the same question.I guess we all think alike TRUCKS&WOMEN maybe not always in that order!!A friend told me early 80s montes should work also he said they have 90' boots on them, and are long enough to go under the manifolds.

Not likely, the monte would have the log style manifolds and the wires would be shorter. They can be used, but not routed like stock.

I have owned a few Vette's with an HEI and Ramshorns. The plug wires are very very long. The wires are routed down as far as the oil pan in fact, two inches down from the block mounting surface for the oil pan. They are run through sheetmetal holders (encased on both sides the vette builders call them doglegs) and then up to the spark plugs from the bottom. Not to mention the extra length because of the distributor shielding and other plug wire mounts/ holders. Everything with the ignition wires on a Vette needs to be shielded because the firewall is fiberglass. No shielding = lots of radio noise and interference. They will work but in my opinion, they are way too long and look kind of messy. I always buy universal Taylors and carefully cut them to the length I need. I guess you could buy all of the Vette shielding and run them the same route as a Vette but you would be into the ignition shielding for hundreds of dollars.

skillet- we have a few Garnett parts stores here in Wichita, any of your "upper end" parts stoes should carry Standard. Dont know about chain stores like OReilly's, Autozones,Advance Auto's.

longhorn man- I know ANY parts stores have them, it's a matter of knowing what model or application a person wants to ask for. These dont have alot of excessive length to them, which I think looks better.

HYPERMAN- I'll take some pic's sunday

I spent 30 minutes at the parts store counter while my parts man flipped through his books, pulling up differents sets till he came up with these.

I had not realized the vette ones were exsesive.
Personally, I always get the universal ones and cut/route how I want it.
