Anyone have a Caddy motor in there truck? I can pickup one here in town for 400 bucks. Motor and tranny.

however, the 67framw rails are narower, so a little trimming may be needed, but nohting major.

you will need a midsump oil pan or a rear sump off an eldorado (getting rare and expensive). Fab up some motor mount brackets, slide the trans xmember back to farthest holes and swing it under the hood.

I changed my brake booster to a smaller one, but it is not necessary if you get the engine in the right spot. Did make it easier though. I believe Andy lined his up so that the fan was in the center of the fan shroud, for ease of cooling. I never had a stock fan shroud, so I just put mine as low and far back as it would go. To be honest, it really wasnt that hard.

btw, thats a good price. BOP th400's are starting to get expensive as well, atleast in my area. A buddy had a motor and trans, gave me the engine for free and wanted $200 for the trans, since he is a ponitac guy.

FOR SURE you want to change the timing chain. The stock chains are coated in Nylon, and will break apart and clog your oil pick (Dont ask me now I know) also throw on an edlebrock intake, rebuild the q-jet. There is a ton you CAN do, and just as much as you SHOULD do. All depends on budget.

Dang Ive passed up a couple of mid-sump pans. I thought the only one you could use was a rear sump out of an Eldorado.

Is your truck a 2wd auto? Easy job if it is. You will have to remove the man. trans crossmember if that's what you got. 4wd's take quite a bit of work.

I have a 67 swb pickup. It has no motor or tranny in it now. But it is black with a cowl hood,powder coated frame,9" rearend,tubbed,disc's all the way around,lowered. Basically a new 40 year old truck.

I hope that there is a 2008 Board meet as good as the 2007 being planned. The wife would be pretty mad is I missed the party to celebrate our vegas marriage we had in march. Just so happens it is on 7-7-07. But to get back on topic or close to I really would like to have a caddy torque monster in my truck. I say go for it! Oh yeah also the whole 2008 thing I just really want to sit and have a beer with longhornman and shot the sh@t.

The guy I got my wreckerfrom has a Caddy motor/trans with adaptor mounts,Edelbrock intake and other stuff he got from Throttlemasters,or whatever that Caddy swap/performance company is.(Torquemasters?)

the trans adaptors should be used only if you have to IMO. They can lead to improper converter seating, and creates more stress on the converter bolts.

I know where there is a complete 59 chevy pickup with a 500 caddy and a TH400 installed rough very rough but is supposed to run for $500 or so in Central Pa if your interested. I can get pic's. Well I guess your pretty far away I just looked at your profile but anyway.

The combo I was talking about is a Caddy motor&trans.Then,the guy bought the conversion motor mounts to bolt it in our trucks,along with the oil pan and whatever other special pieces to make the swap.It came in a`52 car hauler that in his hands found it`s way into being just pieces.That`s what happens to all his projects.He keeps changing his mind until he`s spread out and can`t get it together.Only,he`ll want to make money off of his blunder.Maybe I can barter like I did on the wrecker(he wanted $4,000 for that

If you still have access to the engine you got the pan off of, you need to go get the oil pump pick up.... that pan is next to worthless without it.

I took all the pieces over to the local Napa machine shop to get checked last night and go from there. i traded some Toyota wheels I had

the cad will make more torque stock for stock, and get better MPG, and it's something you don't see every day. The word has been getting around town about mine, and i get ppl askin me about it in traffic at least once a week these days.
Nothing wrong with a 454 (well... have you priced all the brackets and junk you'll need?) but I'd opt for the 500 personally.
ON the MPG thing... I have a worn out 425 cad, 4.10 gears, revin 3000 on the freeway I get 12 MPG last time i checked, and that was burning WAY rich and the timing wasn't dialed in either. All this in a one ton fleet side truck.
