Tire size

I have a 1969 C10 step side can anyone give me a little advise on tire size?

I wanting to mount 16 x 10 with 5 on 5 back space on the rear


And 15 x 7 5 on 5 for the front what would be a good fitting tire to put on the front & rear wheels?
tire is not one of my gifts thought maybe someone on the site would have ran into this problem any help would be great

Why such an odd combo? The 16" tire for the rear will be an issue. 16" tires are a bit of an oddity these days.

We need to know if your truck is stock height or lowered(and how much) to help choose a tire diameter that looks right.

Also, 5 on 5 is usually wording for the bolt pattern, not backspacing. Can you clear that up?

hope this help the truck will be lower about 6" in the rear and about 3" in the front coil over shocks on all four corners

I can tell you for sure, the backspacing is too deep for a stepside bed. The tires will constantly rub the inner bedsides. You need about 5" backspacing. As for tire size, I'm gonna have to research. As I said before, 16" tires are very rare these days, and in limited sizes.

What is your intentional use for the truck?

I really thank you for all your support good looking out I will purchase the 275 55r 16 but can I use a regular tire the same size as well?

No, you will need wheel spacers to keep things from rubbing.

I'd run a 215/70/15 or 225/70/15. Any standard radial tire will be good for the front.

I'm guessing your going for the olé hot rod street car look. Wide tire in back skinny up front. If you already have the wheels you could get a .5" spacer for the back.

Yes I have the wheels the 5" spacer is this something I can purchase are do it need to be fabricated?

Spacers are pretty accessible, just hit a search for wheel spacers. Easiest way to tell what works is put your truck on jack stands, make it level. In other words don’t have one stand up 3 notches and the other 5. Get a 2’ level or close stick it on your drum like the wheel would be and measure from the face of the level to the inner frame or wheel well. Do the same to the outer or wheel lip. Give yourself at least an inch on both sides. Remember to take account for the section width of the tire you want.

I'd run a 215/70/15 or 225/70/15. Any standard radial tire will be good for the front.

I wanted to go ahead and purchase the tires however I have the bed off of the truck because I just installed a 4 link with coil overs either way the 275 x 55 x 15 is the tire I want to run on the rear

Disc brakes or drums? Late model wider axle?

I have 17x9 with 5" bs on the rear of my 69 short step with a 275 55 17 tire. That is as wide as can go (maybe 285 but that's it) without any rubbing. I have a leaf spring truck dropped 7" with a DJM flip kit converted to 5 lug using a 71-72 axle.

On the front it has 17x8 with 4.5" bs and a 235 55 17. Front is disc brake converted with ECE kit with 2 1/2" drop spindles and 2" drop sprints.

Just checking, you stated in the beginning 16x10 is it a 15x10?

Your truck set nice that is the look I would like to have. I had these wheels made by Hot Shot I thought for sure I had all of my measurement correct I had 11.5 from the inside fender to inside fender I was under the impression I would have had 1.5" to keep the tire from rubbing it appears that I will need about a 1" spacer to make them work out

Mike C asked the important question I forgot about. Which rearend do you have? The 63-70 6 lug rearends are a different width than the 71-72 rearends. Or, do you possibly have a custom built rearend since you have a 4-link?

No it's a factory 12 bolt disc brake rear with a bolt on 4 link
