Thumbs down oops cut exhaust for cherry bombs. turns out they aren't easy to find.

Well..... i cut the really restrictive chambered mufflers off because iIve never heard a truck that was so quiet with a mildy built 350, and couldn't stand that i couldn't hear the nice cam lope. so me thinking that the local auto parts stores had cherry bombs i cut it and went down there and turns out they only had stupid thrush glasspacks. Well I tried them and ripped them off just now less than a day later. horrible... so now I'm running around with long tube headers to a 4 foot pipe coming off with a small flange gasket leak as well and my exhaust missing in the center and the back of it hanging off the hangers waiting to be re-connecting to SOMETHING haha.

so now I guess I'll have to take it to a shop and have them weld in a nice muffler or a straight pipe and put in a new flange gasket where the header ends and the exhaust meets. I'm driving this truck out to Carlisle next week, i can't have this thing sounding like it came from the backwoods of South Carolina.

I don't know what a nice loud muffler or exhaust setup would be for this truck. I just want to hear it idle really nice, I don't need something obnoxious unless I'm flat to the FLOOR on the gas.

any reccomendations??

Im runnin a single in out original 40 flowmaster. It has a real low muscle soundall around. Flows don't sound good on a complete stock system, especially with with emission crap. Magnaflow and spintech are nice to. Do you have cats?

If you can't weld you'd be better off taking it to a shop. They can give you input and get you going fast.

Thrush has a nice welded series muffler that sounds nice. I consider them better than flow master and a little quieter too. Magnaslow is also good for quiet at idle and loud at hard throttle, consider them large glaspacks. Pypes mufflers are good they used to suck but thier new street mufflers carry enough rumble and quiet to satisfy most. Stay away from cherry bomb if you truck sounded like trash with thrush glaspacks then it will sound like trash with all glaspacks

I just had the PROFLOW 60 series put on mine, DUAL EXHAUST, AND SOUND GREAT. NOT OBNOXIOUS AND GETS LOUD AS YOU STEP IN IT. BTW, I had the 12 CHERRY BOMBS and they actually sounded like exhaust leaks. Don't do the Cherry Bombs, sound CRAPPY

Interesting what kinda cherry bombs were you looking for and which thrush did you get? seeing how there nearly identical in construction and sound at least the round ones sounds like you want more of a flowmaster type sound.

If you are driving your truck daily, its best to buy your parts before you remove the old ones. Lesson learned.

most glasspacks sound the same, you say the thrush sound like poop? to you the cherry bombs will sound like poo. I had dual cherries dumped before the rear axle on my old 350 and it sounded like a big block.

Re: oops cut exhaust for cherry bombs. turns out they aren't easy to find.

Preferred sounds are so different to each individual it's hard to recommend any type of particular muffler. As I get older I'm not liking the attention getting noise anymore on a daily driver and prefer to walk softly.

Sound quality on the internet is hit or miss too, so it's hard to find anything that way.

If you have money to spend you could always do a pair of electric cutouts, be loud when you want and close them up when you need to. I've done this on one of mine and it's actually more fun than I thought it would be watching people jump when you sneak up on them and crack it open

78-350 cam/bored to manifolds to true duals,no cats,cherry bombs,pipes out the sides@rear wheels,loud idle,love em @ WOT.....wife thinks they are broke

79-305 stock to manifolds, duals Hpipe,no cats, flowmaster 40s,end before the rear wheels, pointed at the car next to me,of course not as loud as the bombs lol but a nice rumble, best said it's like having side pipes without the "burn" lol
did buy and return a glass pack tho lol

Re: oops cut exhaust for cherry bombs. turns out they aren't easy to find.

I had a set of 24" glass packs in my k10. Completely stock 350 but sounded amazing. Like some others have said, it's really hard to predict what will sound good on a mod motor.

I've got a set of thrush's under my truck along with full length headers. They turn down before the rear and they're not bad at all. I thought they would be really loud but they aren't.
