Pics would be good. I saw in LMC catalog the hood insulation and was trying to figure out how it is installed.

What is the hood insulation for? Is it for noise?

It's so noisy in my truck cab, I can't hear the engine. I'm just running a stock 250.

Hood insulation really makes a difference when closing the hood and getting rid of that "tinny" sound.....makes it sound alot more solid. I also have a small supercharger on my motor that at idle has some gear lash that I hate the sound of and the insulation makes it inaudible when the hood is closed. The insulation also dramatically reduces heat transfer from the motor to the hood surface.

I'm using foil sided insulation and running it under the supports (got rid of rubber insulators), trying to make it look as nice as possible. I'll shoot some pics "if" it turns out like I want.

I think LMC has the rubber insulators. This is what I looking at to install.

You at least want those, otherwise the hood skin flaps up and down as your driving along!

Just use a small taper between the support and the hood to slide the rubber pieces in. SLiding the taper out compresses it between the hood and support, holding it in place.

Im thinking about Dynamating the underside of my hood, but it may look tacky...

Here ya go Dave...

Just got done messing with it over lunch. It is a definate case of "function over form", but it does make a HUGE difference in the "tinny" hood sound (nice dull thud now).

It turned out ok....pretty much what I expected, and I don't know how much better it could get with any of the foil backed products out there.

You can see in the pic a piece of round aluminum rod at the hood ridge that I think I'm gonna attach to the hood structure just to make sure the insulation never sags.

Watcha guys think?

Got the hood back on last night and boy, what a difference....nice solid "thud" when shutting the hood and it just about eliminates hearing the motor from the outside of the truck. Also eliminates most of the engine heat transfer to the hood exterior.
