I've got a 57 GMC longbed with a 347 v8. As you can see, I have lots of work to do. I bought this truck when I had some time, but then got really busy. Now I am trying to squeeze a little bit of time in here and there. I am currently working on the frame, removed the rust and paint and applying Rust Encapsulator. I'm going to keep it mostly stock, except to upgrade to front disc brakes and crome the bumpers and grill. The truck has been painted green and under that is red. I'm going with the red. I'm attaching a picture of what looks like the original temporary license plate from the dealer. Has anyone seen this before?

Engine is a 350 with TH350. Will be a 383 with 700R4.
It is Hot wired to run now.
Steering column is a temp. hooked up early 70s caddy tilt/tele.
Chassis is a 71-72, will be a S10 or other 4wd/AWD.
The beautiful interior work is provided by parts that have been collected.
Long way to go!

I am located in northern California and I own two 55-59 Chevy trucks. The first truck is a 1957 Chevy Cameo with a 327/700R4 with Napco running gear. The other truck is a 1956 Chevy that has been extended 20 inches and is running a big block 402 with a turbo 400 trans.I have also enclosed a picture of a trailer that I made for the 57 Napco. I also have a couple of the 67-72 trucks that I am playing with.

Nice truck good start there. Correct me if I'm wrong, say this is '56? It has '55 fender emblems and hood emblem.

55 emblems are one piece and mounted below the belt line of the fender like yours shows and the grill emblem is smaller like yours. 56 fender emblems are 2 piece units mounted above the belt line and the hood emblem is larger.

I also think the VIN#s have a different sequence. I'll check my books are at work I think. 56 #'s start something like 3A56...

Hell everyone,

I'm new on this particular forum but I've been a Task Force owner since I was about 9 years old. Now comes the time I'm able to incorporate the truck into something for school. This is where all of you come in. I'm currently working on my degree project (same stature as a thesis) and it is a history of 55- 59 Chevy trucks. Great project right? Unfortunately, I need to use original imagery. Not things I've taken from books or magazines. It needs to be something someone took, preferrably me. I'm reaching out to other owners in the NY, NJ, PA and surrounding areas for help. If you would meet with me for an afternoon and allow me to shoot some photos of your truck I would really appreciate it. I really don't have anything to offer you for your kindness, however, any photos I shoot will be returned to you on CD along with giving you proper credit in the book. The vehicle condition is of no importance to me. I need to see all ranges of trucks. I am willing to drive and meet you wherever you need me to. If it's exceedingly far, if you could cover some of the distance it would be a huge help, but it is not expected, just encouraged. Lastly, if you would like to help, but cannot make the drive or the truck doesn't move, but you have old photos of it. If they are good quality (high res. digital or clear prints) anything you could send to me would also help greatly. Anyone interested please PM and I will respond quickly. Thank you all for your time and once I begin working on my 58, I'll be around much more frequently. Thanks again-

JF
