Lets have a little fun... What would you do?

1987 S10 2.8/auto 3.42 posi.

I have a 100 different ideas, but want to hear some of your ideas.

What I own currently is a few 5.3s and 4.8s, nice Vortec 383 stroker, and a 95 Vortec 4.3. I have an LS T56, LT T56, and a built WC T5.

With the options that I own already and a budget of 2000.00...

What would you do???

That has a lot of potential. I am kinda jealous.
If I had all your stuff, I'd go 5.3 with the LS T56.
But other than dropping the 4.3 in(what is the point when you have V8s at your disposal), there probably isn't a "wrong" answer.

The 95 vortec will be hard to put in a factory style since it needs a computer from a 95. If you just decide to carb it then I would see that working but personally a v8 swap would be easier and you will need another transmission. The 2.8 transmission has different bolt patterns than the 4.3 and a v8 so its a good thing you already have the tranny to fix that. I think ls would be the way to go, you wont be disappointed

Re: Lets have a little fun... What would you do?

I have the whole 95 donor blazer, so thats easy. I hate autos, but the 2.8 uses the same bolt pattern as any other V6/V8 trans. The trans in it now is from a 89 Vette that we parted a little bit back. With exception of the AC compressor, the truck doesn't need anything, the truck has a fairly new running gear with less than 10k miles, I just get bored easy. LOL.

I hate to burst your bubble but the 2.8 has a different bolt pattern than any motor with the exception of the 2.5 [4]. I own a body shop and rebuild wrecks and have since 1987, and have owned a buttload of S-10 trucks since that time. The S truck used to be what my main focus was with somewhere in the range of a thousand or more owned. Jim

I goofed. I got the 87 mixed up with the 89. This is my first 2.8 ever, so I got my info mixed up.

Re: Lets have a little fun... What would you do?

I have a 5.3 in my S10 and just love driving it. I get around 20 miles to the gallon and drive it daily. In fact I don't think I'll ever build anything using a carbed motor again.

Re: Lets have a little fun... What would you do?

I picked up a F Body front drive set up today, along with a 99 6spd harness, ecu, and complete intake. These parts will help me decide. LOL
