Barrett-Jackson auction

Well, the Barrett-Jackson auction TV coverage starts tonight-(9pm-12 EDT on Speed channel. I really like to watch the great cars sold, although it's a little disheartening to watch and not be there with $5-$600,000 to throw around. I wonder how many of those high-bidders came by their $ honestly??
It must be nice to be able to bid $45M on a complete, ready to drive '32 Highboy or a '39 Lincoln Zephyr----- sigh! Guess I'll go buy a lottery ticket--- I'm too old to keep a rich young widow, even with Viagra!

I must have missed that one. I was watching it on the Speed Channel just waiting to see one of our trucks come through. It must be nice to be able to spend that kind of money on cars. Hell they would take a look at the balance in my check book and send me away.

Having known a few guys that would be in that caliber of bidder, I can say that a lotof them came buy their money honestly. You would be surprised at what background some of these "good ole boys" have, and what they did to get where they are today. Most of them worked hard, played smart, had a vision of success, and stayed with it when anyone else would have walked away.

It can happen to you too....

I was suprised to see that 70 go for just 15k. i thought it looked real good and knowing what I have in mine, whoever owned it is probably having very uncomfortable bowel movments with those bricks coming out his back side.

I just tuned in at the end of this auction. From what I seen it was worth much more than 15 .Someone got a good deal.

I wasn't terribly wild about that paint job but whoever built it had more than double into it what he got out of it. The paint job, the 9" rear setup, big block, air bag suspension, etc...

Couldn't he have put a reserve on it or is that only for the top dolla cars?

You can put a reserve on it,but most don't at Barret-jackson because of how many big money bidders there are compared to other auctions.I go to one in Atlantic City. Most cars at AC are reserve.A lot don't get sold at Ac.

The '70 that was mentioned earlier wasn't really too nice in person. Their was I believe a 71 blazer that was cream color - it was a very nice resto. I didn't really see it untill it was driven on the auction block but that one sold for around 16,000 or so.

I took alot of pics but now my camera is going weird on me. I could only upload these 3. I hope to have more uploaded when I figure out what is going on.

Most people don't put the reserve on because of the 10% sellers price - no-reserve cars are 8%. Plus, the auctioneers and the floor people really manage to bring up the price.

There were many cars and trucks that were sold under 20,000. Some were camaros and the more popular muscle cars. There was a 67 C-30 pickup that was converted to a 5th wheel tow vehicle and it was pretty nice. It sold for around 6,500.

I'll be back there today, hopefully my camera will work better.

Oh, if anyone from the phoenix area is heading up there and want some company, pm me. It gets boring walking around by yourself

Gene

That ochre truck is SWEET! Looks like a much nicer version of mine (except i don't have the 2-tone, only the white top).

My dream truck....too bad it has a stock motor, lol
