Question Late model Steering Wheel Fit?

Will most later model Chev. truck steering wheels fit my '72? Was wondering about '89-93ish model trucks?
Any adaptors needed etc....
Planning on junk yard jumpin' this weekend.

It'll bolt right on. Look real close at the horn slip ring. You'll need to use your original onw. Just use some pliers to pull the metal contact out of the tube, and then use the spring loaded contact, but first, you'll need to shave the nipple off so it'll go in. It is a tight enough fit that it'll hold no problem.
I've run one in all 3 of my trucks with no problem what so ever.

Mike FYI you might want to get the Horn contact plate below the wheel , I used the original one and made a adapter wire to make the horn work.
I think the plate for the later wheel would make the horn hookup easier.

Teh problem with the plate from the new wheel is the bottom is not the same. On the new ones it is flat while our trucks had a tapered edge that presses against the bearings. I made that mistake once already.

I have a later model Chevelle SS wheel in my truck but left the horn fuse out. Ive done this on other trucks with no problem but for some reason, I cant keep the horn quiet this time. My shrink tells me that I need to scream more often. I guess Ill just roll the window down and go for it. I like this steering wheel too much to give it up for a horn. When all else fails, the middle finger works well too!

Here is the bottom shot of the two styles in question... The one that has a tapered end is for the truck, the other one is an early 90's S-10 which donated a 4 spoke padded wheel.

This angle shows the height a little better. The black one is out of a mid 70's van (a tilt deal) and I only threw it in the pic to referance the metal contact.
I normally just grasp the metal with pliers and pull. They normally come out with no problem and I have even been able to save one or two.

i have an 87 wheel in my truck and i like it alot i havent messed with the horn yet and probably wont untili have to go get inspected.

Bill72BB, I never answered your Q...sorry.
Stop looking for the newer style. When you install it your upper bearing will ot have the support they need and everything will be real sloppy. So sloppy in fact, that the bearings will pop out of the race, and the turn signals will not cancel.

dont know if anyone cares but I used a 90's S-10 wheel with the original plate, horn, turn signals work properly and the stearing is fine.

I used a full size truck whell out of a 93 chevy extended cab, and all I had to do to get the horn to work was take the horn wire and cut th end off and put a female connector on it and plug it on the inside of the horn button on the new wheel. You remove the horn cap and you will see the male connector inside of it. All this does is ground the wire and therefore makes the horn work.
