Hey, you said you have a ramjet. I bought one recently and put it in my truck. I noticed a hissing sound sometimes when accelerating, and asked someone about it and they said that it was the throttle body. It seemed logical because it sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine, but I was curious to see if anyone one else with one of these engines has this sound. Anyways, to my question. Do you have this sound when accelerating? If not, have you done anything different to the engine? What type of air filter do you have on your truck. I will include a picture with the air filter that I have. Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with your problem, but how do you like the RamJet other than the hissing. BTW it sure looks good...Stroker

Hooter, That is what I was told. The guy said it was because the venturi is small in comparison to the amount of air that is entering.

I like the motor a lot. It is nice to not have to deal with the carb. It is not fast enough for me though. It ran a 15.5 in the quarter mile, but I want it to go faster. I have some aluminum heads that I can put on and I was going to buy a camshaft. Then have someone reprogram it. That would be sweet. Anyways, yeah I like it. It starts fairly easily. It doesn't start up as good as a new car where it only turns over 1 time and starts, but it is definately better than the carb.

Not really the same thing, but I know a guy who got a T.B. spacer put in his F.I. truck and it produces a really noticable hissing.whistle type sounds upon acceleration. Apparently its normal with the aftermarket spacers...maybe yours has something like that, I dont know im just guessing, as I know nothing about fuel injection

Check for leaks around the air intake and throttle body. My Dad's Tahoe had a bad hissing sound when he installed a new airbox on it. It turned out that the seal from the airbox to the throttle body was leaking.

I don't have a Ramjet in mine, I have a ZZ4. I wish I did, mine is a real cold start. I have to warm it up for about 5 minutes before it runs right.

i'm betting it just the air sucking into the throttle body too. i got a couple buds who have open element k&n's on there new vortec trucks and they make a very loud hiss when acclerating.
