I bought mine new off of ebay. I saved at least $20 per wheel vs buying locally. Not having to pay sales tax saves almost 10% and you can often get free shipping.

I've always bought online. My chrome Vette rallys came from http://www.davidsrallywheels.com/

I bought my 18" TTII's online on ebay and got a great deal. 3 still in plastic never out of the box and 1 was used as a display rim never had a tire mounted on it. They were from a tire shop in Detroit. $660.00 shipped.............................................Bamm!

Re: Did you buy your rims online or at a local dealer?

My GF is big on buying on-line to save a few bucks.

Me personally..... I would spend the extra $10 a wheel saved on-line & give it to my local guy who will be the one helping me when something goes wrong w/the new wheels/tires one day (I would only go to a local guy I trust, not just any shop available). I look @ any extra cost for purchasing local as an investment in a mutually benefitial business relationship.

I'm the same way w/my music too. I've used the same independent record store for over 20yrs. Anything I want, I call him up & he has it within 1~2 days (depending on how bad I want it). I rarely get anything from him on sale, but he does throw in freebies on occasion.

Try getting that kind of personal sevice from an on-line source.

The most recent set of rims I bought came from a board member here.

Re: Did you buy your rims online or at a local dealer?

I'll shop around a little on wheels, shipping is usually so expensive that it's just
as expensive to buy them locally (new).
I always buy tires at Les Schwab, just because anywhere I drive, there is a Les Schwab. And they have are pretty good about warranty stuff.

Re: Did you buy your rims online or at a local dealer?

Support your local tire/wheel store. There are a lot of things that I buy on line so I am not opposed to Internet shopping. When it comes to tires and wheels I ALWAYS support my local dealer.

It is very common to have problems with tires or wheels no matter who you buy them from. Do you want to have to ship them back? Do you think your local dealer will give you good service if you didn't buy from him?

Like Scoti said, the few extra bucks spent are well worth the convenience of having your local shop warranty a bad tire or rim.

Re: Did you buy your rims online or at a local dealer?

I recently bought a set of custom built 18&20 intros and bfg kdw tires. After looking everywhere on line I went to my local chain tire store and they were $200 less than the cheapest on line source, and that was incl mount/balance and tax.
