My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

Hi guys. This is my first thread but not my first truck. My daily driver is a
65 suburban. It has a static 4/5 drop and a fuel injected 409 with a 700R4. The Twisted Little Sister is a 66 suburban that is going to be chopped , sectioned and further customized

So here's my daily driver

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

On this truck I decided to use all of the ideas that I've had over the years, practical or not, just for fun. So for the suspension I got this for a donor.

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

Since I've always liked the idea of a V12, I got this for the motor and transmission

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

I do like the Suburbans, and would also love a short panel on my drive.

Take a look at this build, not quite the same, but the same motor action.

Also, you could probably use him as a resource or ally.

http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...-sketchy-drive

There is a driving video on page 14.

Will keep and eye as this unfolds.

I've never been much of a suburban fan, but this sounds like a fun and interesting build. Looking forward to the progress as it evolves!

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

Thanks for the interest guys. Grizz, I did get a couple of ideas from the V12 Landrover link. Thanks

We stripped the Corvette. Then last week we built a frame table and put the Corvette frame on it. We cut the frame at the back of the doors and unbolted it from the front cross member

We tig welded theses frame curves at the end of last week. We spent all day today cutting and then squaring the 2X6 frame sections on the mill

Very interesting build, I'll be watching for sure.

That Jag trans looks quite a bit like a GM trans.

Going to have to keep an eye on this build . Those V12 cars are getting quite cheep over here in the UK due to the running costs

I like the no-holds-barred approach, there are so few things in life you can truely indulge in.

If this is what you are doing for the frame and power train, I can only imagine where you may go with the body in and out.

You're right Captain. Jaguar used a GM Turbo 400 with a different bell housing bolt pattern

Cheap here too. Running cost and rust issues

We spent more time today prepping the frame pieces. Then we started mocking up the frame.

Re: My suburban's Twisted Little Sister

A lot of clamps, a lot of measuring, a little tack welding and we got the perimeter of the frame tacked together. Then we started on some of the sub assemblies
