Loose rattling heater core solution

Hi Guys,
Just noticed that my 68's heater core is loose and occasionally rattles inside the heater core box.

When I checked my dad's 70, I noticed that his had some type of padding inside the heater core box, to keep the heater core from bouncing around.

Checked all the catalogs and searched the site, but haven't found any info on this. Any thoughts, soultions, or input? Thanks!

Re: Loose rattling heater core solution

It should have a metal strap top and bottom that keep it tight in the box. As far as padding mine never had any

Re: Loose rattling heater core solution

I'd get some thick rubber cushioning strips and cut them to fit. Problem solved.

Here is a picture of what you probably need in Fred's for sale thread....

They are probably rusted off or missing.

How did you attach them to the heater core?

Thanks! I didn't even know that part existed. So does it attach the core to the firewall, or to the interior of the heater box?
I might have to fabricate something.
