Newbie with a suspension question

Hey guys, figured I'd post my question here, since getting my truck to hook up is part of my problem, and you guys know a thing or two about hooking.

My truck is a '85 ex-army truck. Its 4x4, and its been lifted about 4". It has 3" blocks under the rear springs. 33" tires, going to 37".

Ever since I swapped out the 6.2 diesel for a mild 454 BBC, I can't go WOT anymore from a stop without getting severe axlehop. Is there a way to solve this?

I drive it on the street only, no off-roading for me. The goal with this truck is to build sort of a sleeper, a big not so pretty truck that'll leave most cars in the dust.

One thing that is adding to your problem is those blocks under the rear springs. You could eliminate that block with either a 3"-4" lift spring, or doing a rear shackle flip. This isn't going to eliminate your axlehop, but it will help reduce it. Additionally you are going to need some sort of traction bar so to speak. Probably the best one on the market for leaf spring applications are CalTracs. Yes they do make them for 4x4's. I don't see them listed on their website, but I have seen them in their brochure. You'll probably have to either email them or give them a call. They're real nice guys to deal with.

I've been looking into your suggestions for a bit. Shackle flip is a nice option, but on my truck its going to interfere with the exhaust (I have full exhaust to the rear bumper).

Those lift springs are looking very nice! I've noticed Pro Comp sells them, for an affordable price. Since I'm fairly new in this 4x4 stuff, is Pro Comp a quality brand?

Its also good to know that there are Caltracs for my truck. I already figured I'd have to use some kind of ladder/traction bar to keep things stable.
