Who needs 71 parts

I have a chance to get longstep 71 parts truck. It runs, original straight 6 in it, 3 on the tree. All I will probably want is the grille from it. Depending on how many people need/want parts from it will determine if I buy it. Interior is pretty shot in it, dash/glovebox looks to be in decent shape, all gauges are there and work (all original) I am pretty sure it is a 71 (they have the mirror bolted up top right? instead of the windshield?) Body could use stripping but is not rusted very bad or bent up. Frame looks to be straight also.

I might be interested in the doors and fenders. Do you ship? How much would you want for these parts?
thanks

Not much for the parts, Ill have to talk with my dad, he's at work now The guy only wants 850 for the truck, so if i can get back 700 out of all the parts on it and keep the grille, I'd be a happy camper. He will be home this afternoon (few hours) ill let you know.

It,s older than a 71. 71 is the first year that the mirror was on the glass. If it is a stepside i would be interested in the rear fenders. If the price is right and shipping isn,t outrageous everything I find in and around mass is rusted through. or they want an arm and a leg for them.

Was'nt '72 the mirror on the windshield? That was about the only diff between the '71's and 2's

71 had it on the roof....72 on the glass. A 71 is the only year with a raised mounting pad on the sheet metal its self, all previouse years had a smooth panel there, as did 72.
Pic is of a 71 GMC short step.

I hope I don't start a war or anything but wouldn't it be better to just buy a new grill and not part out another old truck that could be saved???

From what you describe and the price, this sounds better than a parts truck.

They aren't going to last forever...

Question

:p I must be mistaken. I have a 71 that has the mirror on the glass . some previous owner must have switched the cab and vin tag. Hey anything is possible with these older trucks. the title say,s 71 short step. that,s good enough for me.
