Smile New '48 project

OK guys - this is my first post here. I have never restored an old vehicle before, but I figure I can handle it. I know I'm gonna have questions & this looks like a good place to post them, but before I do that, I'll post a few starting pics.

Here's my 1948 3100. I got it from a guy in the Dallas area & didn't get home until after dark. Most of the parts are there & have been blasted & are ready for fixing up. The chassis is already painted. Engine is a 216.

My plan is to go pretty close to original, but with a few upgrades like 12 vlt wiring & maybe a new rear end. My daughter is excited about working on it with me.

Lucky dog. In MI a fresh blast job like that would have rusted before I got it home!!

Looks like a great project. Enjoy the time with your kids. Our boys are 18 and 15 now and I got to spend Sunday at a swap meet with the 15 year old. He knew a bunch of the vendors and a bunch more of the attendees because we've been doing this since he was about 10 or 11. Both he and his brother can fix their own cars and are always getting calls from their buddies to help them out.
