Questions for TEXAS members (DFW)!
Hey guys,
In the last two weeks my wife and I have found out we are moving to the DFW area. Kinda hating the move (lived in Oklahoma all my life), but I think its going to be cool living there. I think we have found a house in Red Oak. The great thing about it is it has a 1200 sq foot garage with AC! Anyway, I have several 67-72 trucks and blazers. I need to know what inspections are going to be done. I will be living in Ellis county. Everything I can find on the net says I will just have to get the safety and not the emissions tests done. Is this right? I know there are alot of you guys from that area on this board. It will be great to finally get to meet some of you. Should make all the swap meets, car shows, and races in the area. Later Chad

Chad, anything that is 25 yrs or older it's only a safety inspection, no sniffer. You'll like it here, lots of great people. Let me be the first to Welcome you to Texas!

Here is the lowdown...
Parker, Tarrant, Denton, and Dallas counties have emissions testing. But, 25 yrs old or older gets only a saftey inspection. Not one of those counties? Kick the tires, honk the horn ,show em your insurance and your done. The joys of living here. |

Cool guys, thanks for the heads upon the emissions thing. I was kinda sweating it. As of a few years ago, Oklahoma stopped all inspections. I liked it at first. Then, I got to noticing cars and truck that should not have been on the road. So the saftey deal is a good one.
Later Chad

Oh, don't worry, you'll see plenty of cars down here that shouldn't be on the road either.

Chad,
Welcome to DFW! The inspection criteria are listed here www.airchecktexas.com Since these trucks are 25 years old or older, they do not have to have the "sniffer" test. They are supposed to have all the smog equipment that came on them originally, and some stations will inspect for this. Good Luck and welcome! Kent Dropped67step-I'm in Aledo too! South Annetta, really, but where are you?
