Grill dimensions

I am in need of a dimension from a 47-53 Chevy truck grill. I need to know the width of the grill from side to side. I am trying to mock up the front sheet metal and I need to know the proper distance between the front fenders.

Thank you
Marc

Re: Grill dimensions

Are you at a point that you can put the hood on and make the fenders fit to the hood?

Yes, but without a grill in place the fender tend to fall a little which causes a bigger fender to hood gap. I was going to make a steel pipe the same width as the grill so that the spread of the fenders are correct.

Thanks

Thanks Greg. I had a mock up grill but I must have taken it to the scrap yard. I am still scratching my head over where it might be.

Thank you in advance.

Good point cajun

I forgot about the taper. I am still pissed that I threw out my mock up grill. I must have got too excited when I took a bunch of scrap metal to the yard $$$$.

Re: Grill dimensions

on the remans....make positive you start from BARE metal and build them there. I got one that was painted in some kind of enamal I guess, but the metal was completely rusted beneath the paint.

the grill was brand new FYI.

Your grill was chrome, so you mean the painted part of the grill was screwed up underneath. Where did you buy it from?

I am sure they all come from the same place, I was just curious.

Thanks
Marc
