Do the make a automatic tranny for my 61 GMC 305 v-6..I need an overdrive the 392 gears are killing me on the highway..any suggestions........

I know that some came with either a power glide, or a th350 behind them. But from what I have found, if you want overdrive, the best option is a T5. But you will still have a manual trans. I have a 66 and want to do the same as you, but I will probably go with the T5. It will bolt to your bellhousing.

There are two different factory adapters for these engines also.

heres a goofy question, is there an adapter to hook the hydro up to a sbc?

I could be wrong but the hydromatic might be able to hook to the sbc it was the V-6 that you had to have the adaptor for.
