Found in the driveway

I am guessing it is form my truck.

72 SWB, K10 Fleetside...not that much of that matters.

Is this something off my front suspension?

I crawled underneath and saw nothing obviously missing or disconnected. I am sure as soon as someone tells me what it is and where it goes...bang it will be very obvious.

Is there a nut I am missing? DO I reinsert this one or by a new one?

I think it's a shock mount.

Re: Found in the driveway

I thought that as well.

I spent 30 min looking again. Cannot find anything...I am starting to believe it may not be off my truck...but could have landed on my driveway and bounced into my driveway form someone driving by.

I am going to add another photo...this one has a quarter to show size reference.

It does look like a shock mount bolt...until you see the size of it.

My front end looks good...old but good. My springs are all help in place...my shocks have all their bolts.

Any more ideas?

Tim

My first thought was that it was part of the ball joint until I read some of the responses. I dunno.

Re: Found in the driveway

Well... it could be worse. I once found a brake pad in my driveway upon returning home from work...... and it was from my car. Tore that caliper all the hell up. It did explain why it was pulling when I hit the brakes though. LOL

Any diagram available for that?

It sure seems huge for that.

Re: Found in the driveway

It is a bolt...with a smooth shoulder section and a threaded area. It is a hex head bolt...and of course the washer...I am not even sure it is off my truck.

I was under my truck again...and still cannot find where it may go.

There are two bolts that hold the trasnfer case in fron the bottom...bot are there...and they are not hex head.

I cannot fins about bolt like it. I even looked at the cab mounts..no go..all are in place..

Re: Found in the driveway

When you say transcase shifter...do you mean the rod that comes through the floor in my truck through the rubber boot? Hence the shifter?

It is secure and shifts properly.

And of course by the reference to the quarter...you can see this thing is big.

Re: Found in the driveway

I dont know about 4x4 stuff much so I cant help with any transfer case stuff but from the looks of the bolt the head sits flush when installed. It looks a lot like a brake caliper bolt but the washer kills that idea & they are usually a lot longer too. No help from my end I guess...

Did you check your riding lawnmower for missing parts? Something off the deck maybe? No clue...

After 25 years of taking these trucks apart and reassembling them. That does not look familiar at all.

Re: Found in the driveway

I think someone just threw it in your driveway just to get you worried.
Here is a closeup of the upper shock mount.
Looks almost the same but mine has a hex head and the thing you have is round.
