My New 2007 GMC

Heres a pick of my new truck. Had the fender flares and door handles painted body color.

Thanks BP68 for the answers to all my questions.

Those were a pain

Had to order them in silver and disassemble the handles, sand and paint then reassemble them all because GM dont make them in this color.

But it makes it look alot better than those cheap black ones.

Mileage should improve when summer hits. Winter Diesel sucks for mileage!

My 04 Duramax has 60,000 kms on it and I am getting 13 l/100 km driving 120 km/h down the highway.

Re: My New 2007 GMC

I love that color!! I wish it would have been available when I bought my 2005 GMC. I was in the Atlanta area about two months after I got my truck and saw one of the new 2006 Sierras in that color. I have been tempted to put a pin stripe that color on my '71. Great looking truck. Painting the fender flares completed the look nicely!

I've disassembled a set before for paint, tough at first.

you need a chrome tailgate handle to match - I have them on my website;

www.TruckTechniques.com - click the replacement parts link and search for part ads1111

Re: My New 2007 GMC

Snow gone, well not yet. Warm though and the snow is melting, but I still have snow on the roof of the house and the yard probably has an average of about 10 inches across it.

Re: My New 2007 GMC

I'm toying with finding 07 classic. Why did they make so many of these with the black plastic looking flares? Haven't seen many trucks with those that did not turn me off. Seems like certain colors came that way.

Nice touches. Those are a couple of subtle differences I think are a must. Was it hard to R/R flares for paint?

Re: My New 2007 GMC

Only certain colors come with body color matching flares. I think that GM didn't want to make any color matching accessories in this color for only 2 years since the NBS was coming out. You can go to GM and order the Escalade door handle kit way cheaper than what they are selling them for on Ebay. But they only come in the main colors they have been offering since this body style started. I bought the silver door handle kit, took it apart, sanded then had them painted with the flares. Colors too new i guess I see lots of NNBS out there in this color.

As for the R&R on the fender flares. I had to find a smooth set (Also silver) because my truck came with the textured ones. Scuffed and painted also. Hardest part was scraping off the 2 sided tape( Time consuming ) but not hard if you have a sharp Olfa knife. Reused the plastic retainers and bought a new roll of 2 sides 3M tape

Heres a before pic

The truck looks sweet, I wish I had a CC and a Duramax

If anyone wants the part numbers for these handles I can get them to you. GMPD is a pretty good site for newer upgrade stuff

On my '06 the lower bumper (deflector?) and the grill surround is the textured black/gray plastic.
I was talking to the body guy at the dealer last week and he said he could paint them to match the body color (black) but he couldn't gaurantee the paint for more than a year or so becuse of the texture.
I asked him about "paintable" parts and he looked confused. I mentioned that I had seen plenty of the Sierra trucks that were painted like I wanted mine done. He said he would look into it and give me a call the next day.
He called me back and said he talked to his supplier and they have something to paint the textrued surface and would gaurantee the paint for 5 years.
So I guess my question is should I just have my textured parts painted or should I hunt down the paintable (smooth) parts?
He quoted ~$250 to paint the grill surround, lower bumper (deflector?) and the steel rear bumper.

Re: My New 2007 GMC

10-4 about GMPD, Does Partszoneonline not have shipping charges at all? I put all 3 items in my car I want to pick up and then proceeded to checkout so I entered in my credit card # as a bunch of 1's, just to try'n see what kind of shipping charges it calculates, and the cost never increases, altho the prices are about 5 bucks higher per piece I wanna get, they still beat GMPD 12 dollars if they dont charge for shipping... Thanks a bunch, and I dont mean to try'n knock out your business either Joe
