1976 C10 emissions delete

Hi everyone so on my 76 C10 I am running an older 250 straight 6 and not going to be running any emissions stuff other than the pcv.
So I have removed the under hood round can thing (sorry can't remember proper term)
My question is about the vent hose going from the engine bay to the fuel tank, can I just plug off the the line at fuel pickup sender?

Tank needs to be vented. If that hose went to a charcoal canister, you will need to vent somehow. On trucks without the canister, a vent like the one used on the differential was used. A little plastic thing with a loose cap connected to a short hose off the sender. But expect to have some smell of gas most of the time. Better to keep the canister.

Ok thanks I was thinking I read something about that before and it was floating around in the back of my mind that's why I asked.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know how the older trucks with the in cab fuel tank vented? Was it the fuel cap or did they have some other way?
