Hobby jogger grinds out 1001.8 miles in a year

I’ve ran 1001.8 miles from July 1st 2020 to today.
I’ve got 477.66 miles from January 1st to today. I should hit 500 miles before the end of the month.
I’m running a “Quarter marathon” this Saturday at the the Charles B. Wheeler airport in KC.
Not bad for an old middle of the pack hobby jogger.
I’m stoked. The plan is to do a 10k road race next month then get in a couple of cross county 5ks before my goal half marathon in October.
Getting in a little cycling also.

Nice!

I've started back to doing a 5K 2-3 times a week. I've found that if I mix at home video workouts with only a few runs a week my knees and back like me a heck of a lot more.

Keep it up!

Wow, you've covered a lot of ground. I haven't even driven anywhere near that number of miles in the last year.

Congratulations on that. If any of you see me running get your gun and shoot whatever is chasing me. I’ve stayed in shape and weigh within 5 lbs of what I did when I graduated college 29 years ago but not much running involved.

The most I got up to was about 700 miles one year and that seemed like a lot. 1000 miles in a year is awesome!

That's about how far I drove my Grand Prix in the same timeframe.

Re: Hobby jogger grinds out 1001.8 miles in a year

Congrats. When I was in the Navy I thought I could run well until I met a USMC drill instructor who said to me, "you gotta start someplace I guess". I found out that 10 miles every time we went out became the norm. I would (at his suggestion) give my self a present when I hit milestones. Once we started doing 10 he made me get rid of the old gym shoes and got some NB 990's after that all i had to do was lean forward to run.
