Putting on new harmonic balancer

Have it on and there is about an 1 1/8" gap from the end of shaft to edge of balancer. guy on YouTube says sbc have about this much of a gap. First one I have done--------is this right?

Can we see a pic? Do you mean that the crankshaft is ~1.125" deep inside the balancer?
