New here

Hello everyone, new member here. I picked up a 1970 C-10 shortbed on New Year's Eve. Loved these trucks for years and actually learned to drive in a 1969 K-10.

Picked up a nice 1970 with a bunch of extra parts. Body is in very good shape, needs cab corners, rockers, and floorboards. Bed is in awesome shape. Engine is a 1968-ish 327, Edelbrock 4bbl, HEi distributor, 3-speed converted to floor shift.

So far I've replaced the intake manifold due to a crack by the water fitting, complete tune up, new (used) power steering pump, and installed a power brake booster.

I have about $5000 in parts on order from LMC and the like.

Intent is to make this a decent daily driver/Sunday cruiser.

Re: New here

Also, if anybody local to South Jersey or close enough to drive here is interested, I have a complete 12-bolt rear end (gearing and condition unknown) with 5-lug hubs for coil spring trucks, and front spindles and brake parts for disk brakes (5 lug also).

Free to a good home, just come and get them. I'm planning to keep my drum brakes for the foreseeable future and have no desire to switch to 5-lugs.

Re: New here

Thanks everybody!!

I got about 7 boxes of stuff tonight and a few the other night. I now have all the steel I need for floorboards, front cab mounts, bed floor (minor spot repairs), cab corners, and rockers. the only other thing I need is a right front inner fenderwell. Got the seat reupholstery kit, a bunch of interior stuff, door and window seals etc tonight as well as the new tilt column.

Also stopped and ordered a clutch and flywheel kit for swapping in the 4-speed. Picked up a new starter tonight also. Gonna be a busy week.

I have a big order from early classic and brothers on the way.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: New here

Thanks everybody!

Also forgot to mention that I have the A/C kit from Classic Auto Air coming as well.

Not trying to restore it or build a show truck, but I intend to have a comfortable, reliable, daily drivable truck when I'm done.

I'm going to keep it white and change the interior from blue to black. Junking the nasty buckets the PO put in it and reworking the stock seat. Rhino lining in the bed and probably a black soft tonneau.

Right now I intend to have the everything under the hood good to go this week and start on the floorboards this weekend. Also going to try to repaint the dash and get the tilt column installed. Once I get it registered I'm taking it for an exhaust. The PO put some nasty bent pipes over the axle and welded on a pair of motorcycle mufflers. I'm debating putting the new duals out in front of the tires or behind. Probably in front for the slightly old school look.

I want to have it as a drivable project within a few weeks. It will probably take me over a year to get everything done including paint.

I have to decide which grille I want to use. Both are pretty decent and need minor dent work, but one is an original 70 and one looks like a later GM replacement----at least based on the 69-70 grille thread I was reading.
