Same truck - New state. 1988 R20 Burb 454

Howdy.

I used to drive this truck around Alabama and used it to tow an Airstream. It was a great truck. My dad bought it to tug a sailboat from the lake to the gulf. He had fun doing that for about a decade and now I've moved her out to Arizona to tug an Airstream around Phoenix my wife and i flipped.

We just sold the Airstream, so I'm using a chunk of that cash to get the suburban street legal here in AZ.

Arizona is pretty strict. Someone before us tossed the secondary air injection system. Luckily I'm already below the carbon threshold I need to hit, but if the equipment isn't there it's an automatic fail.

I'm hoping someone pulled this power sapper off their truck and stashed it on a shelf.

Otherwise, I'll have to buy a burned out RV salvage engine with the bits and transfer them over. bummer.

Anyway- I've got a bunch of other stuff I'm excited to do to this truck. A bunch of the electrical stuff needs some love. Ideally I'd like to find a way to replace all the Chinese switches (are they? they might as well be) and get decent direct power to the windows.

Anyway, I'm excited to learn from you fine folk.

You guys are killin' me.

We were in Mesa for four years (1990-1994) when I worked at the GM Desert Proving Ground. We moved back to Michigan for "my career".

We loved our time out there.

Welcome to the forum!
