Re: C20 Front end rebuild kit help

I looked into the kits when I swapped a 79 C20 crossmember onto my 66 C20, but I could never figure out the brands on all the items, and I really wanted to get Moog stuff. I ended up ordering most of the stuff from Rock Auto, they have some excellent pricing, and it ships fast. Overall, I spent a little more, but had an entire new front end with quality parts that'll last as long as I will.
I Say most, because I also got some from Amazon. It is a major pain from them, because you have to find a part number and then plug that into their search, but sometimes the prices were cheaper, and I am a Prime member, so shipping was free. Rock Auto sometimes ships from a few different places and you get billed for shipping from the 3 or 4 separate places, which kind of sucks, and if you shop on Amazon, you may come out significantly cheaper.
As for the drop, I think generally anything over a 4 inch drop in the back will require a notch in the frame. And generally in the front, most people that are smarter than me recommend drop spindles first, then drop springs or bags to get where you want to end up. I believe the drop spring heights you are talking about will have an extremely harsh ride, but I defer to others that are smarter than me on those subjects.

Thanks for the help bud.....yea I could fine what kinda parts where in the kits.....and instead of drop members I made a few modifications to my a-arms I'll post some pics I'm just wondering about the cross member where my trailing arms bolt up I don't know for sure but does the drop push them forward meaning I'll have to get the adjustable cross member from porter built ?

Sorry, I really can't answer your question, I only know enough to be dangerous. Hopefully someone else will happen along.

Extreme drops do change the wheelbase since the rear end is swinging on an arc. Some feel adjustments need to be made; others are ok w/it. Only you can determine if it's acceptable.

You should opt for a long Panhard bar vs a stock length unit. Also, shock angles & mounting points will need to be addressed as well (extreme drops lay the rear shocks over too much rendering them uneffective).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
