Help With Paint/Matte Finish - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

truck is going to the body/paint shop tomorrow. Here's what I am looking for, I want an olive/army green in matte or flat finish. Does anyone know where I can find a paint code for matte finishes so that I can give the guy at the shop the right code. If there is no code available, I have seen some trucks on here with the matte finish, would you mind sharing the process with me to tell to him. Thanks for any help you can give

There are some (see http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/anyb...ner-83235.html) that claim Johnson & Johnson Talcum powder (baby powder) will flatten any gloss paint beautifully. I don't paint but the painter who did my truck used this PPG flattener as an additive to the black paint he used on my fenderwells: PPG DX685.

ask advise from the paint supplier they should know thier products better than anyone

Check out the link below for "Hot Rod Flatz" pre-flattened paints. I've heard good things about it, but have not used it...yet. I did get some of their Oxide Red Epoxy primer and it has held up great.
