Still loving my LS swap!

Just wanted to say, I am still happy I did the LS swap. I love driving it cruising at 80 and still being able to get on it and go! Haven't been on here in a while due to work and school, but driving it today just put a smile on my face!

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

1325 miles since my 6.0 swap..it's awesome. More power then I need and better fuel economy then the TPI 5.0 liter I had. I do want to upgrade the brakes though..

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

I have put almost 30,000 miles on my S10 since I put the 5.3 in it. Thinking Real Strong on putting one in my 64 before the 350 dies!

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

Rich84, I need to upgrade mine as well. 6.0 would have been nice but wasn't in the cards. I do have a buddy who's Denali caught fire on the inside that has a 6.2 in it that I am seeing if the insurance will let him buy back...

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

I still love all of mine too. Got about 30k on the Rusty '71swb and still going strong, but I drive my '33 more. It just hit the 100k mark about a month ago, has a 2001 LS1/4l60e in it.

Dude I remember the thread on Ls1Tech when that 33 project started. People either loved or hated it, and I still think its rad AF.

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, but since it's your thread I guess it's alright? Anyway, here's a few pics for you. I had to pull these pics off FB and just realized they are old, before the cruise control was added.

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

I remember that feeling the first time out in the suburban Still have it at the top of the mountain a year later I don't know how many miles but it's been on 2 big road trips. The first the day after completing the swap them towing the camper to PA..
I think it's the First LS swapped 68 suburban to the top of Mt. Washington

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

Who would have thought going from a 250 six to a 5.3L would not only give you better reliability and performance(!), but also better economy, too! The wife is afraid to drive it, thinking it's too fast (she hasn't seen how explosive it can really be hee..hee). 75 seems to be the "sweet spot". Makes that 85mph speedo' almost useless. The truck is an absolute blast to drive

I built my 78 for "her" but when it was finished she did not like the power her old truck had with the new 5.3, so that cost me a "new" 2003 and I get to the 78
Oh well !

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

I've got a 6.0 LQ4 in my 56, and LOVE IT!
Every build I do from now on will have some type of LS engine.
I'm done with Carbs, never going back. The junk yards are full of LS parts also!

Re: Still loving my LS swap!

Went on my longest trip yet..About 175 miles of country roads with 2 new Corvettes and a 2017 Camaro SS. They told me that the only reason they let my old jalopy go with them was because I have a LS..LOL
