Looks good. What size tires where on it? And is that stock height?

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

tires are 33 12.5 15's. they are the same tire in both photos, just had the white letters turned in. i got the caps and wheels from board members. wheels are
15 x 8. i had them media blasted and painted. im eventually going to paint the cap bowties blue. i have one extra cap and one extra wheel. they will be for the spare im mounting inside the bed. i believe the lift is 2.5 inches, skyjacker softrides springs.

Yeah I like those better than the rallys. Make the truck look tougher and I think those tires look awesome!

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

What model of vehicle did 15X8 inch wheels come on? Was it a standard upgrade when an optional large tire was ordered? Probably more so on the 73 up K10's?

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

I guess you could order some plain wider wheels from some of aftermarket places, such as peterson, wheel vintiques. I thought of doing the same thing but on a 2wd run 15x8 steelies on some old hubcaps. It just seems even stock 4wd's had anemic looking skinny wheels like 15x6 or 7. Where did those wheels come from? Nice back ground. If there was 47-53 truck there I'd say it's brokeback mountain, squeal like a pig(deliverance). Ha, ha.

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

as far as knowing what wheels these came on stock i have no idea. i bought them from frank (PICKMUP). maybe you could pm if you're interested. i actually wanted skinnier tires but they are very hard to find in 15 in. and still be as tall as my 33's. background is part of the cascade mt range, hwy 2 and stevens pass area. the pic is taken at the family farm (retired farm). been in my wifes family for just shy of 100 years. havent seen brokeback mt (and never will) i think most of the cowboys in this area are over in eastern wash. and thankfully washington state isnt known for inbreeding.

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

Nice!
Most go the other way, from stock to rally's.

I put a set of 265's on my 16" steelies, not quite as large as 33's but they still look good.

Great truck, love the look.

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

CG,That`s my kinda wheel! Looks great! The wide wheel option back then was a 16.5,even on 1/2tons.I don`t know the year the 15s started, sometime around`75/76.I have some 5-lug 8x15 oems for my short bed.Kelsey Hayes made these wheels.I will check with the commercial wheel company I`ve bought them from to see if they are still available. The 9.75x16.5s on my GMC are sold as trailer use only. But,trailer use exceeds vehicle use.

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

Mark, definately the look I want on my '72! I like the stock white wheels & hubcaps. I've been thinking about (if there is ever any extra $) getting my stock 16" wheels widened and running 33's. The stock 235/85's look a little too small on my rig. I've only got 3.07's so I' a little worried I may have to regear if I step up to something around 33's.

Looks nice. If you drive that rig into work sometime, stop by...

Bouncy,I bet you could go to 255/85s without noticeable power loss.

Re: pics of new wheels and caps

Do you know what diameter 255/85 comes out to? My understanding is the 235/85 is approx 31.5" tall. I'll probably need new tires next year so it isn't a rush, still exploring my options.
