Truck with 1 piece body panels??

Didn't know how else to title the post but a friend called today and asked if I could remember a GM fleet side pick-up, 50's or 60's era, that the body was inter grated into the cab, almost like a suburban without the rear part of the roof. I do think I remember something along that idea but can't find a pic on line anywhere. Does this vehicle exist?

Re: Truck with 1 piece body panels??

I have seen a few suburbans converted into pickups, and a couple trucks with the bed welded to the cab, but besides the elcamino, gm did not build an "unibody " truck.

in 73 they offered the blazer which is about as close to a unibody that they go to on the truck platform.

ford did offer a true unibody pickup in the 60's.

Re: Truck with 1 piece body panels??

I figured out what I was remembering, I found one online (57 Cameo) but upon a closer look, I could see it wasn't a uni body. I have seen a couple at a distance over the years and always thought the body was integrated into the cab. My bad. Geesh, the more I look these trucks over, the cooler they get. I would love to have one of those babies.
