Question Inner fenders

Question I'm close to finally finishing my 67 build and can't decide what to do with the underside of the inner fenders. Do should i paint them the color of the truck or paint them black?

I am finishing the build of a 1970 C10 there were two ways I figured to go either the traditional black rubberized undercoating or the chip resistant black coating used in spray in bed liners. However I am painting the truck a matt black and silver so it was a easy choice for me. Are u looking for a way to accent the color of the body or a solid one color over the entire vehicle. Shoot the underneath of the fender wells with a black primer to see what it looks like u can always cover it with a different color if u don't like the black.

Black paint just like from the factory will be just fine. There was no rubberized coating put on them or anything. Just some overspray from the optional undercoating when and if it was sprayed on. You'll never see in there anyways.

Black for sure, probably satin black or maybe flat black. Definitely not body color.

thanks everyone I honestly couldn't remember how they came from the factory. I'll be painting them black maybe prime them black and cover with the satin black chip guard. Cant wait to show it off in a few months!

I think both sides were satin black from factory. They seem to have more sheen than other parts painted satin, but that may be contributed to the gauge of the steel. I don't know, seems thin parts put out more sheen.

Yessir, that's correct for my '72. Most likely all others too, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

I asked this same question two years ago and guess what I did! NOTHING. I haven't gotten around to putting those on the truck yet.

I think I'll scuff up the epoxy primer with a scotch-brite pad and then spay with Eastwood Chassis Paint, satin black for both sides. I may not do anything, as the black epoxy primer is supposed to be pretty tough.

Rust you say? Here is a pic of where I had to physically CUT the passenger side inner fender off from the radiator core support. The three bolts there free wheeled in the core support.

I had to do that to a lesser extent on the driver's side.
